The Battlefield 3 beta is now live on PSN.
Some of you might find that you can't download the beta client when you do click the magic button, however.
There's been mixed success judging by internet chatter, and it looks like only people who bought the Medal of Honor Limited Edition are able to access the download at the moment.
It makes sense since the Battlefield 3 beta isn't actually set to go fully live until the 29th.
DICE developer Gustav Halling explained this morning that Origin players and Medal of Honor Limited Edition buyers are getting early access today. You need to have entered the online code for Medal of Honor Limited Edition to get in on the action.

Played it, and enjoyed it. I know its still a beta version. But so far the graphics at least, is a bit worse than BC2(on PS3), but the gameplay works just fine and is really smooth. Tho it got same problems as the PC Alpha test had. Random crashing(My new ps3 froze 2 times so far). Hope they are going to be able to make it look a bit better. Right now even CoD looks better /sadpanda.

so dice has refined engine, improved lighting, improved usage of spu's, with shading being done on them, as well as lighting and physics, and .....its gone back to worse than bc2

theyve still refined engine, not made it worse u numpty. bc2 was a great looking game to start with, but if u seriously trying to convince me it looks worse than bc2, im sorry, but ur talking arse.
im not expecting huge leaps forward over bc2 tbh, but if youve ever read their console presentation, you will see how theyve heavily optimised engine.

maybe the beta is slightly off from final build, but bc2 wasnt horrendously far of final build in its beta, plus most other user comments ive read, who are playing beta , dont back up ur comments.

Looks miles better than BC2: loads of dynamic lighting (was none in BC2), more detailed environments and fantastic animation. Not too much destruction going on on that map though. Probably partly due to there not being as many explosives being used at the moment."

I never said implied it was bad lookinge, just that the engine has been optimised, so how can it not look as good as bc2? for a start it has mlaa, whereas bc2 had no aa, second it has dynamic lighting, bc2 didnt.
Of course bc2 looks better son!

Look at MAG, you could say that technically it's one of the best console games, when in fact it's graphics don't look very good. Battlefield 3 may technically be an improvement on BC2 but it's possible that adding in the new effects ultimately means they have to tone down others despite their best efforts to optimise it, so the rusult is it looks overall worse but has the occasional distraction like shadows that move. Also you really shouldn't listen to all of the rubbish developers say about their own games. They just throw around meaningless buzz words that impress people even if they have no idea what they mean. Just saying they've optimised the engine means absolutely nothing to anybody outside of DICE.

This explains why EA have been hesitant about showing console game play footage because the graphics are utter crap compared to the PC version, I wonder how bad the xbox 360 versions graphics will be if the PS3's version is so bad? In My opinion Modern Warfare 3 will look better on consoles then battlefield 3.
But overall the game plays great and is fun.

im actually shocked at how terrible it is.
the controls arnt very good. feel very clumsy when moving around, graphically its terrible.
what i do like, is just how massive the levels are. going to point a and b over a big map is great, but the other points have really worried me, even to the point i might cancel my pre-order...
i know its beta, but seriously, will the actual game be much improved?
