Syndicate gets surprise February 2012 release date

Recently revealed shooter out in just five months

EA has announced a surprise February 2012 release date for its recently revealed Syndicate remake.

According to reports, the publisher made the announced at a showcase event in Las Vegas this morning, confirming that the Starbreeze-developed reboot will land on February 21, 2012 in North America and three days later in Europe.

In its announcement earlier this month, EA said its goal with the remake is "to provide a challenging action shooter for today's gamers as well as fans of the original".

"I'm sure they will enjoy and recognize the legacy that made it such a classic," said EA Partners executive producer Jeff Gamon.

Syndicate will take place in the year 2069 and, like the original, draws its influences from venerable sci-fi sources including Blade Runner and Terminator, plus modern works such as The Matrix and Inception.

Players fill the boots of Miles Kilo, an agent from the Eurocorp Syndicate. Miles is described as "an enforcer, a Terminator-style hardcase with a special, military grade version of the Dart 6 chip implanted in his head".

Why bother releasing it, no-one wants it ?

It's not Syndicate as it was loved and remembered, so what would the point of releasing another FPS into an already overcrowded market be ????

Miles Kilo ? Honestly, you must be mentally retarded to come up with a name like that.

Sod off Starbreeze and take your rushed abomination child with you

and yes - i will judge this before it comes out. I know I will not enjoy it.

But he's right tho... Nobody cares about this abomination. it could be 10/10 and I would still think its s**t. I have decided that I'm going to pirate this game because I refuse to pay for it. And I don't care that its wrong. They should have done the right thing and make it a action RTS like the original. When I first heard the name 'Miles Kilo' I had to laugh, it sounds like a Nikelodeon cartoon. And just look at him... they couldn't have made him more generic looking if they tried.

An unneeded FPS with a quick release date. It just gets better and better. They'll announce the map packs on Friday and the sequel by Monday and then it's map packs by Wednesday!

Two or three years at least, if I'm not mistaken. I seem to recall CVG mentioning in a previous article that they first reported rumours of this game back in 2008. I'm not 100% positive though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm not miserable, i'm loved by everyone in San Diego !

Seriously though - why make an FPS - someone please answer this question. EA / Starwheeze have thought - $$$ and gone for the vastly overcrowded FPS market, rather than go for an innovative take on the classic.

Please, please, please Starbeeze - do the right thing and can this load of tosh - you seriously think you can muscle MW, BF, Halo, Crysis (and not to mention all the other ones) out of the way ??? Do me a favour...you are destroying one of the greatest game series' legacy !!!!!

Also, please stop releasing statements about how great you think this game is, you are not convincing anyone.

Fans of bad-ass, top notch, Triple A production value First person shooters with a great story, great gameplay, and great visuals? Oh, and most of all, original Syndicate fans who AREN'T closed minded PC shut-ins who are affraid to accept anything other than a top down RTS. Its time to move on and grow up.
