Battlefield 3 beta: 9 minutes of Xbox 360 video

Electric trial goes public tomorrow

The Battlefield 3 beta went green yesterday, with codes going out to those who pre-ordered the game via Origin or bought the Medal of Honor Limited Edition.

Yesterday, for those who missed out, we recorded 10 minutes of Battlefield 3 beta PS3 gameplay, and now we're back with a whole 9 minutes of Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 footage.

If you didn't get early access, hopefully this will keep you going until tomorrow, September 29 when the Battlefield 3 beta will be made available to one and all on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

OXM also has a further four minutes of action from the Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 beta.

Played this for about an hour earlier & I have to say, not that impressed. It plays just like more BFBC2, but the graphics are quite poor. Lots of graphical glitches & the only game mode is rush on a pretty narrow & uninteresting map.

I may pick it up still, depending on how many people on my friends list get it, but overall, given the hype it's received, pretty underwhelming.

Why are you talking about graphical glitches when it's a beta? There's bound to be quite a few, this isn't a demo and I agree the map isn't the best but I think the graphics are great once you get out of the park and into the metro. Having played around 400 hours of BFBC2, BF3 plays VERY differently to it, that's for sure.

Caspian border is out tomorrow, I feel right mugged off that the fact that my exclusivity is two days on a map I played in the alpha. Really it should have been a week with both maps and a stat rest when it went public.

As a mainly call of duty player when it comes to multiplayer I'm really enjoying this map and the game. There are numerous glitches atm but hopefully the beta will iron those out, the most depressing is when your legs glitch into the map and it ntakes about 3 jumps to get out of the map by which time I am normally dead (This happens a lot at the first A bombsite).

I would give you that if the Game was 6 months away like the Reach and Gears betas. This Game comes out when, in less than a month? I cant see there being too many wholesale changes between now and then, can you?

Think ill miss out on COD: MW3 and BF3 this year, Gears and Halo: CE will do me for 2011.

It doesn't feel like battlefield without vehicles. What the hell were DICE thinking putting in a small cramped and dull map in to the beta!

A beta for a game that comes out in a month is not a beta, it's a mulitplayer demo merely called a beta so that people feel important and special while playing it. It will lead to minor fixes in later patches but I wouldn't expect the graphics to change at all. This is a slice of the final product and noticeable and common glitches are unacceptable imo.

I played it last nite for about 5 hrs and at first i was a bit disappointed. But after giving it a good thrashin, i really enjoyed it. Yeh theres some glitches, but its a beta, the gun play is great the graphics are pretty good, and the way the map flows, was pretty awesome... A huge step up from Bad co 2, imo.. Lookin forward to the full game!!!

I guess it depends on when the beta code is from , doesnt it?? Normally code released on beta and as demo's are older code. Prmarily the beta is for them to test it's online stability and iron out quirks that need addressing before launch.

i wouldnt expect massive changes, but it's likely that a a lot of small refinements will be made both visually and gameplay wise.

I'd look on it as a CoD player recruitment drive. Don't want to complicate matters too much with vehicles, tactics and, scariest of all, choice.

This is a beta build, most likely from a couple of months ago, with balancing improved from the alpha. This had to be submitted to MS and Sony and god knows how long that took for it to be approved. I know the graphics are not going to change but 95% of the glitches we're experiencing won't be there at launch, or will be gone in a day one patch. You shouldn't judge a game solely by a beta, the point of the beta is for people to see the glitches and for DICE to fix them before the game goes gold or have it prepared for a day one patch. For all we know many of these glitches are gone in their very latest build, it's not simply a multiplayer demo.

Not everybody loves massive maps with tons of vehicles. Battlefield has ALWAYS been about both large vehicular based maps, and small infantry maps. And this beta is delivering BOTH. Metro, for infantry, and Caspian Border for vehicles.

Really? That's news to me, just pointing out it's a beta. People will find fanboyism in any post these days. All I did was state why a beta has a fair number of glitches, and that you should only judge if they are still there at launch. I'm a Battlefield fan, but I'm no fanboy. Fanboys are blind closed minded idiots. By your definition, does enjoying a game greatly make you a fanboy? My game collection says otherwise.

"Remember that this software is in Beta and does not represent final quality" - Battlefield Blog.

I'd also add, don't judge a game after having played one map, in one mode, in a Beta test.

I wholeheartly agree with this. People are branded as fanboys for the smallest thing around here sometimes.

I gotta be honest. Tried the "early access" beta yesterday and got pretty bored within five minutes - although this is no reflection on the game itself, more due to the fact I hate Multiplayer. I just wanted to see what the graphics were like on the 360 as I've only previously played the Ps3 versions Campaign (at Eurogamer last friday) and the graphics were incredible on both machines.

Saying that I still cannot wait to get this game for the Single Player. Multiplayer doesn't interest me as I don't play online at all now (although I used to enjoy a spot of Cod4 back in the day) and on Battlefield I hate being forced to be on a team. If I was interested in playing online in a military fps my preference would be Cod as I prefer being on my own in all-against-all matches and just prefer the ranking and xp system of Cod, but as I said, Multiplayer bores me nowadays and I'd much rather gladly get stuck into the Single Player modes on both games when they are released.

Well I'm glad to prove to my friends finally that it isn't as amazing as it looks. After two hours we were back on gears 3 as it wasn't great. Very uninteresting gameplay similar to cod only not as well done. Maybe it was the horrible map but why showcase your game on a bland map? As stated above a showcase of glitches inwhat should really be described as a demo.

I haven't played it but it seems like it is definitely a victim of too much hype. I'm not saying it's bad, just that they really persuaded eager players and the media that this was the game to top all games and it would not dissapoint. Maybe it was due to the map not being the best choice to use but it seems a lot of people have said the graphics ain't the best both on Xbox and PS3.

Oh well, it's just another FPS to me anyways...

Me and my mates love it. The map isn't that great, and the people saying the graphics aren't great, they're probably disappointed that it doesn't look as good as what has been shown from the PC version, which was obviously never going to happen, the 360/PS3 is 2005/6 architecture for Christ's sake. When compared to other CONSOLE games it looks fantastic. This game is brilliant so far, in my opinion, looking forward to seeing the full game to judge it properly.
