FIFA 13 Move compatibility won't be a 'gimmick' - EA

David Rutter promises that compatibility won't compromise title

FIFA 12's not even in the shops yet, but EA's already confirmed that its successor will be compatible with PS Move - and now the firm's moved to pledge that its inclusion won't be a "gimmick".

Speaking to the latest edition of the UK Official PlayStation Magazine, exec producer David Rutter said: "It's about trying to make it part of the game in a good way, rather than have it as a clichéd marketing gimmick."

It's a sentiment backed up by EA Sports senior VP Andrew Wilson, who added: "The core focus for us is still on 11-versus-11, twitch-based gameplay. That's where we're investing heavily."

FIFA 12 is released tomorrow in Europe, and is already picking up the expected praiseworthy write-ups.

When somebody says FIFA 13 Move Compatibility it already sounds like a gimmick , im guessing when you play FIFA 13 with playstation move it's identical to the wii version , i tried playstation move but my little semi detatched house has a very small living room so it didn't work needless to say i took it back and got a credit note damn gamestation and their refund policy.

Why stop with move why not give it optional kinect functions for taking penalties. If they do the move functions like PES on the wii it'd be brilliant. its a really different satisfying way to play a football game.

A Kinect Manager mode would be fun. Camera view from the touch line and the ability to start yelling phrases such as, "just lump it", or "get back in position you c**t"!

I only played the original PES on Wii, and thought it was brilliant. I'm sure with more buttons and improvements they should've made in the last 3/4 years they should be able to make it work really well.

It was much more revolutionary than anything that's gone on in the PS3/360 versions of FIFA or PES.

    Isn't Move a gimmick anyway?

Yes and it's sold pretty well to if the numbers released at E3 are true

Is gimmick still a bad word in gaming terms? Because I couldn't be arsed with the PS3 fannyboys snapping at me. I just mean the Move is just an optional gimmick as is Kinect and so the modes they offer are usually small gimmicks. E.g. Ghost Recon's Gunsmith mode. Anyways my point is that this feature mode is still a gimmick at the end of the day.

I wouldn't snap at you for saying it's a gimmick, I think it's a gimmick too, just saying it's selling really well (if E3 figures are true and not usual Sony BS) thats all, to the point where I could see it being put into many more games in the future, after hearing how well it works in Killzone 3 I wouldn't be shocked if more FPS's adopt Move as a secondary control method.

As for the word itself, if an idea is implemented well and adds to the game it's a "feature", if it does the opposite then it's a gimmick. Thats my take anyway.

No no I didn't mean you, just the usual fanboys who would read that and over-react.

    No bother.

I don't think there are "fanboys" on here, I think it's just you know who has a multiple personality disorder, problem is they're all muppets

Yup, I bet it won't bet a gimmick. Move is half price right now. In a year, you will be able to buy enough of those f@#kers that you should be able to velcro them all over your body and have full body motion capture that rivals the motion picture industry!
