Gears of War 3 Horde Command DLC announced

New maps, characters, fortifications and weapon skins

Microsoft and Epic Games have announced the Gears of War 3 Horde Command Pack DLC, set to launch November 1.

The add-on includes three new maps, three new playable characters, two new weapon skins, new Horde fortification upgrades and additional Achievements worth 250 Gamerscore.

The pack's available for 800 Microsoft Points or for download automatically to those who've purchased the Gears of War 3 Season Pass.

The new additions include (in Microsoft's words):

Maps

Blood Drive - The Jacinto Medical Plaza was overwhelmed by evacuated citizens after the government-sanctioned Hammer Strikes, and the ensuing riots quickly turned this safe haven into a dangerous inferno. An abundance of high ground and funneled choke points make this map a returning favorite to Horde.

Rustlung - Once the pride of the Royal Tyran Navy, the foredecks of this decommissioned battleship are now riddled with bullet holes. Any team with the fortitude to hold the exposed central torpedo bay will find that the ship's Loader has been replaced with a battle-ready Silverback mech suit.

Azura - This island resort was once the exclusive domain of Sera's educated elite, but the tranquil water gardens and lush foliage have become a hotly contested combat zone. Dual snipers overlook a powerful explosive weapon, while the defensive central platform may be your last resort of retreat.

Fortifications

Command Center - A brand new type of fortification that allows you to call in fire support from sniper teams, mortar strikes and even multiple Hammers of Dawn.

Decoy Upgrade - A new fortification level that turns your decoy into an Onyx Guard bot that will fight in your defense.

Sentry Upgrade - This upgrade adds a fire bolt sentry that deals much more damage and is very effective against Berserkers.

Silverback Upgrade - This advancement allows you to upgrade your Silverback exo-suit with devastating rockets and extra levels of repair cost reduction.

New characters

Onyx Guard

Big Rig Dizzy

Bernie

New weapon skins

Team Plasma

Jungle Camo

I'll download this at some point. Might even get the pass if it's still available when I get around to it. To many games out this year that I want for me to be buying ANY DLC. Although I do like the Onyx Guard.

Think I might download the Season Pass.

If were going to be getting more Horde and MP maps along with Campaign based DLC then it actually looks ike good value for money.

I got the season pass, and while I don't regret it, I can't help thinking weapon skins...

Looks like a DLC package worth downloading, actually has more than just three new maps which actually justifies the price.

Shame about the weapon skin DLC which is a complete rip-off, but they don't change anything in the game so I don't mind that much.

Blood Drive was one of my favourite GoW2 maps, at least from what little i played of it due to the botched beginning. Should be a good map for Horde which i'm loving at the minute, managed to get to wave 19 last night just playing split-screen.
Looks like the season pass may well have been worth it if they keep up this level of DLC.

Can't deny that it does appear to represent good value for money but..... there are videos of people playing with these maps/skins/characters on youtube and there have been for ages, as they were included as part of the leaked version a few months back. Suggests, like many have said before, that this content was on the disc before they removed it so that they could squeeze a few more pennies out of us. Which kind of sucks. Round 1 to the illegal downloaders. Sad face.

I was going to complain about blood drive being a recycled map, but it looks like it has received a real face lift so all is forgiven. Just remove gridlock from the map rotation and replace with escalation from gears 1 and I will give you many M$ points. Cheers.
