Capcom legend reveals 3DS 'pirate RPG'

First trailer, art released

Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, Dead Rising and numerous other brilliant Capcom titles, has revealed a new action-RPG project for the Nintendo 3DS called KAIO.

KAIO is being developed by Inafune's newly formed studio Intercept alongside Marvelous AQL, a studio built up of Marvelous Entertainment, AQ Interactive and Liveware.

KAIO, which roughly translates to 'King of Pirates', will have a multiplayer component and feature a pirate theme, its main character has been revealed to be a penguin. Sounds like someone's been reading a bit too much One Piece.

According to reports KAIO is planned as a trilogy and will feature over 300 anthropomorphic characters adventuring on the seas.

Here's what Inafune had to say about it:

"The story is set in the adventurous great oceean where heroes fight for their ambition, justice and their lives. You can expect a truly exciting gaming experience in this world of KAIO"

"There's still some work to be done before completion. Meanwhile, please watch the teaser trailer over and over and wait for KAIO patiently. All good things come to those who wait... I will not disappoint you."

You heard the man, watch the teaser.

Earlier this year Inafune also announced 'The Island of Dr. Momo' a free-to-play Android and iOS game being developed by his other new studio Comcept.

He also revealed that he offered to complete the now cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 under contract but Capcom declined his offer.

I'd be interested in this. Because, you see, I'm not a closed-minded buffoon who writes everything with colours in off as being for children.
