The big one, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 review, lands on newsstands via Games Master 245 on November 8, it has been confirmed.

In case you hadn't noticed, that's the same day the next CoD instalment actually arrives in shops.

Sledgehammer co-founder and general manager Glen Schofield said last month he feels under massive pressure to deliver the goods with Modern Warfare 3. All eyes are certainly on the third in the series, but the signs look positive for Activision.

Record pre-orders have been reported by specialist retailers, while a recent survey of 5,000 active US gamers found Modern Warfare 3 to be the most coveted title this holiday season.

9 /10 then? or 97% or 5/5 depending on their review system...

Never understand how a "first" review is such big news when the majority of gamers are aware that all this means is an automatic high score. Makes it all the more silly when sites pre-announce that the review is coming.

Probably explains why I don't bother with gaming publications anymore... Oh for the days of old: Mean Machine, CVG and Sega Power....

Here's a thought, would it make any difference to the sales of this game if it got 5/10 or 50%? Would it hell! So second question will any one care about seeing the exclusive first review. No, they'll be too busy playing the game. Might as well review a turd and tell everyone it smells like ......

Oh an exclusive first review in Gamesmaster, I'm confident enough in their 'exclusives get you above 87%' policy to say if this is below 87% I will punch myself in the nuts repeatedly.

Why are no reviews allowed to be published before release day for this?

They might negatively affect their sales I presume, There must've been a contract between them and the reviewers that said they wouldn't publish reviews before release day so nobody would cancel their preorders.

Kudos for the Mean Machines mention, I had completely forgotten about that mag - oh, brings back the memories!

Seems par for the course nowadays for a lot of games

Reviews should have to come out the week before a game is released. It would make much more sense. Bring in a gaming law that says so!

Makes sense i guess, as Games Master's target age is around 12 years old, that is also one of COD's unfortunate strong followings... Cant wait for the screaming high pitched voiced Americans with their Mam in the background 'hollering' at them 'to get off and do their home work'...
