Arriving sooner than we expected, here's the full uncut version of today's 'Run for your Life' trailer for Hitman Absolution.

It's looking awesome, don't you think?
We saw Agent 47's latest, long-awaited outing with our own eyes back in June and jotted down a detailed account of our impressions in our first look Hitman: Absolution preview.

I can't understand why they let go of David Bateson. The new voice sounds as gravelly as any other generic 'hard man' character now. I lose a little more faith in Absolution each time I hear a new detail or see new footage

No I don't think it looks awesome. I'll just repeat what I said in the other thread.
Unfitting soundtrack. They said the guy doing it had worked closely with Kyd for a long time. Was hoping it would be Kyd inspired but this sounds more like it has been inspired by a generic summer action movie. Even the dynamic music doesn't feel like it fits with the game.
Inappropriate stealth gameplay. I'm more than aware this was just a video to show off the action moments and that the rest of the game could be more "hitman" but the question I'm thinking is, if it was more like the other Hitman games, why would it need see through wall modes and wall hugging to be implemented into the game? Something tells me the rest of the game will no doubt involve splinter celling your way through patrol routes, instead of master of disguising your way through.
The voice... the voice.. THE BLOODY VOICE!? What in God's name were they thinking with that!? It's bad enough 47 now looks like a defeated at the hands of hair loss, Sean Connery, but now he sounds like.. well.. he just doesn't fit. Bateson fit because the model was based loosely on him. Using someone who sounds so unfitting it's as though he's been movie makered into the video, is a terrible idea. Maybe if they'd kept to Kyd and Bateson, I'd be more forgiving but as an overall package, this is just a horrid combination of disappointment and shock.

It's been very interesting watching the youtube comments today and from what I can gather people are judging the entire game based on a TUTORIAL level. IO have stated that this level is made to show off as many aspects of the game as they can, which it does. They have stated that the player will have choice as to whether they want to go rambo style or be stealthy. They have also said that the music will be different depending on how you are playing. So everyone just have some faith in IO, I still believe this will easily be the best hitman yet and I will only change my mind (if at all) when i actually play it.
Having said that I do agree that the new voice for 47 is horrible, way too generic. but who knows it may grow on me. I've only heard three words after all

I'm gonna have to disagree with the collective here- I think it looks incredible, and I have faith that it will deliver.

I have to agree with Stryker89, it looks awesome. I actually think the music works really well, especially the bit where the police helicopter changes from passive to aggressive. And as for the voice? 'tisn't that bad. This game was well off my radar when it was first announced but after this, I'm looking forward to it

Damn that's an VERY different gameplay style from what I expecting! I'm hoping that this just early on - hence why it is overly scripted but hay! I say that about everything! I have to say I agree with TheCrimsonFenix on multiple accounts and I think the major thing is that 47's voice has changed. Noooooooooo!
Here's the repeated last line of 47 from this:

Listen to it, as it reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it. Any ideas?
Wait Diana's voice is out too? Damn you IO!!!

Casting changes aside this looks great. Its kinda what the new Tomb Raider is going towards and it just gives the impression that this is a game you wouldn't mind watching someone play, the narrative speaks for itself.

I was always disappointed that Bateson wasn't going to be 47, and I sent him an e-mail too in which he replied back. No Kyd is a big disappointment, you only have to listen to his Assassins Creed soundtracks to realise how talented he is, kind of amazing to think they didn't re-hire him. Unless he was asking for too much money or something, seeing as he's on AC now. Those things aside, the game looks as I'd expect. Can't say I like the instinct ability to see enemies footpaths, but IO said that can be turned off in the full game. As for the music, it's along the same lines of Contracts, and I don't mind a slightly different take on the franchise by another composer, but it's not the same without Kyd. Maybe I should e-mail him next.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure what to think, but my gut feeling is certainly one of unease.
It just seems like some one played a little too much Splinter Cell Conviction before coding this game, because the similarities are striking. Just the way the NPCs rant on with all of their actions so routinely scripted, it already seems like the game is 2 years old.
My favourite part of previous Hitman games has always been planning a flawless hit, so I hope this aspect of the game has really been given some serious attention.

There's nothing I hate more than f**king haters. Anybody who bases there purchase on the first real gameplay footage is a mug it clearly shows u can still play stealthy if u want and if u wana shoot every f**ker in room then u can do that to and I don't understand why everyone's getting so s**tty about a the cover system if anything it makes it more stealthy and yeah I'm a bit p**sed they changed the voices and I don't really get the x-ray thing but I'm not gona boycott io because there not tailoring to my exact taste I think it looks incredible and I cant wait to get into 47's shoes once again.

It's a different type of stealth game compared to something like Metal Gear or Splinter Cell. Hitman was more about entering restricted areas under the guise of a local patrolling person. The previous Hitman games never had you hugging walls and going down a linear path structured to funnel you to the end of a mission, with the exception of the tutorial level. I know as all the obvious people have been saying that this is just one mission but for design aspects seen in this video, it's a little more than obvious that it's been designed with certain things in mind. The inclusion of wall hugging in the game engine says to me it will be a big part of the sneaking aspect of the game which in turn says there will be even more sections in the game designed for cover to cover sneaking. Also, wall hugging like this says to me one more major bad thing: cover shooting.
I will honestly give IO a chance or two to show something more Hitman in regards to classic gameplay but I won't hold my breath on it being the classic experience. To the many long time fans of the series, they would have bought more of the same but better. This video, everything IO have said in interviews, and longtime members of the Hitman series now out of it.. points to one thing: broader audience. It happened with Splinter Cell, it's now happening to this. Some longtime fans will love it, some like me will think it's completely unnecessary of them to change around the game like this.

I would think that hugging walls and taking cover would be good for a stealth game.....Yes the other hitman games didn't have it but arent they supposed to be adding to it anyway?

If they stick with the generic american accent then a lot of people will be p**sed! YOu can't just get rid of an icon gaming voice like that IO!
TheCrimsonFenix on 11 Oct '11 said:
I thought about this and then I asked myself, how many games that implement a cover system, use it for anything much more than shooting?

First - this looks amazing, so all those complaining need to understand what a hitman game is all about
Second - this looks like an early mission or perhaps even the last, a hitman does not simply escape a scene, there is usually a 'hit' involved. The last mission of the last game is a good example
Third - the last game came out many years ago, the voice actors may not be suitable anymore
Fourth - in the last hitman game Agent 47's death was faked and now he is alone and in hiding
Fifth - the 'seeing through Walls, pathways' idea is brilliant, all top assassins have a sixth sense giving them tactical advantage just like the bourne movies
Sixth - he uses disguises but there are only police officers there!!
Seventh - as Agent 47 has been found, it seems someone knows where he has been hiding all this time
And seriously, complaining about faceal features?? Really, that is pathetic, may have had some work done. If you don't like the voice acting (Agent 47 rarely speaks) or you don't like his HD face then don't buy the game. I for one will buy this on pre order and can not wait for release, it already looks better than all the other games.

Metal Gear Solid perhaps? Batman AA, Assassins Creed, I could go on. Covering behind something is the best thing to do if you are:
A - unarmed as the caption says
B - hiding
C - being shot at
D - moving from one place to another without detection
Agent 47 is trying to escape, you could kill the first cop you see, take hit gun and
Kill all the cops if you want, did you see the gun next to the doughnuts? It's giving the player options that this series does best.

Like I said, some will love it, some won't. Don't insult some who have been long time fans as not knowing what it's about. Whether it will be like the old games later on after this mission is yet to be seen, so, those badmouthing it now are no worse than those saying it's brilliant. The Hitman games didn't need see through wall modes, it's not difficult to tell when an enemy is approaching you, so why implement a mode that is obviously little more than an attempt to get those who found it a little "too difficult" more involved with the game? If you can't get to grips with a games mechanics, even when there are multiple difficulty levels, you need to put it down if it's a little too hard.
As for Metal Gear, Batman, and Creed, they're entirely different kinds of games with entirely different mechanics. The aim of the Hitman games was to task the player with taking out one or more targets, in whatever fashion they please. I'd be a little less worried if it wasn't for the fact IO have been holding back on a proper walkthrough until now, choosing to show an action packed level instead. I'd be a little less sceptical about the games open ended nature, if it wasn't for the fact IO have said the game will have small levels divided by checkpoints, no manual saving, scripted action sequences, more movie like storytelling, a tag and kill mode almost ripped right out of Conviction and Red Dead, and possibly a multiplayer mode.

With an engaging atmosphere and well-designed levels this looks like it could be a really great game but perhaps just not a really great Hitman game due to its action orientated and heavily scripted nature.
