New Wii release date, bundles announced

Streamlined model arriving in early November

Nintendo has slapped a November 4 release date on the new Wii model.

Unlike the original, the newly configured Wii console isn't compatible with GameCube software or accessories. It also sits horizontally rather than vertically.

The new console will launch as part of the 'Wii Family Edition' featuring Wii Sports and Wii Party, a Wii Remote Plus controller and Nunchuk.

Nintendo has also announced a Wii Fit Plus hardware bundle. Launching on December 2, it will include a black Wii console, Wii Fit Plus and a black Wii Balance Board.

Earlier this week, Nintendo said it will be releasing a blue Wii hardware bundle on November 18, featuring the console in blue and a copy of Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
