The best Spider-Man games

Take a tour through the web-slinger's finest...

We're partial to a bit of superhero action here on CVG and with X-Men, Batman and Spider-Man games all releasing within a couple of weeks, we're currently being pretty well served with portions of mask, tights and cape action.

You'll probably have already seen our 5 Best X-Men games feature, but this week it's everyone's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man who's getting the 5 best games treatment. So here they are, the web-slinger's finest outings to date, alongside one or two splendid cameo appearances.

Spider-Man Atari 2600 (1982)

A pure piece of nostalgia, Spider-Man on the Atari 2600 wasn't the first Spider-Man game (that distinction belonged to Scott Adams' Questprobe adventures), but it was the first proper video game. Developed by Parker Brothers (the board game people), the Atari 2600 version may look primitive now, but saw Spidey battling arch-nemesis the Green Goblin in some blocky web-slinging climb-the-building, defuse-the-bomb action. Still fondly remembered by gamers of a certain age.
