Batman: Arkham City review average reaches 97 on Metacritic

Praise pours in for Rocksteady's sequel

In our Batman: Arkham City review we said Rocksteady has delivered "one of the greatest Batman interpretations of all time". Critics far and wide have followed suit and drowned the title in an outpouring of praise.

The universally positive reviews have earned Batman: Arkham City an impressive Metacritic average of 97, elevating the Caped Crusader's latest caper above Forza Motorsport 4, Gears of War 3 and FIFA 12, which currently hold averages of 91.

The PlayStation 3 version of the Batman sequel has been given full marks by 1UP, VideoGamer, Game Informer and Official PlayStation Magazine Australia.

Although the Xbox 360 version has a slightly lower average of 94, this is likely due to the difference in the amount of reviews. While the PS3 version has seven reviews, Arkham City on Xbox 360 has a total of 15.

As far as we can tell, Batman: Arkham City is the highest scoring game of the year so far.
