Lara Croft, CoD, Jenga - This week's best iPhone games

iOS game reviews to get you through the week...

In 2011 it's difficult to discredit iOS as a legitimate platform for gaming, so it's probably about time we gave those iPod and iPad titles on the App Store a bit more attention on these pages.

In a new weekly regular, our friends and colleagues at T3.com bundle together five of the best offerings available on Apple devices, from the freshest additions to established hits.

As ever to help shape our round-up let us know about your favourite iOS titles in the comments below. Or swear at us, one of the two.

Shadowgun

Mad about guns? You'll love this app. Rotten to the core and boasting a treasure-trove of firearm delights, there's no room for errors as you attempt to blast your way through each level in this epic first-person shooter.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Lara Croft's most recent outings have recaptured the magic of the early Tomb Raider games, and Guardian of Light is a particularly satisfying chapter in her story. The levels are rich with detail and challenging puzzles, involving unlocking gateways, bouncing bosoms and grappling. One word - epic!

Call of Duty: Zombies

This mini-take on Activision's best-selling first-person shooter builds on the success of the game's zombie level. Graphic rich and action packed, expect blood, gore and some serious firearm madness.

Rating: 5/5

Deep Green Chess

Show your inner-geek some board game love with Deep Green Chess. It presents you with a chess set and a computer opponent and leaves you to get on with it, with the barest of interface clutter. Classic.

Star rating: 5/5

Jenga

Board games as video games make for speedy set-ups. The iOS game tries hard to recreate the original's feel - the physics and controls are strong - and adds an arcade mode and pass-and-play, but it's still not a patch on the real thing.

I'm sure someone started an iOS topic in tge general gaming.

Your right though CVG should get there act together,we heard non stop crap about onlive for 2 weeks solid (due to all the advertising on the site) and nothing about iOS/android releases,IGN always review the best releases every week but CVG do nothing, news section on here is a joke, they even failed to mention the catwoman sections in there 4PAGE!!! review.

I would guess that's down to Onlive paying to be up there. They clearly are one of CVG's (or Future Publishing) bigger advertisers.
