We had plenty of potential heroes and villains to pick from this week, which we suppose is good and bad in equal measure.
Still, we managed to whittle it down to three apiece making up the following list of what we think are the worthiest causes.

HEROES
Why? For beating the man
In something of a David and Goliath battle, Minecraft Markus Persson and Mojang won the battle against Zenimax and Bethesda to keep the name of their upcoming game, Scrolls.
If anything, this one is worth celebrating because it reassures us that common sense is still present in the world.
Still, we would have liked to have seen that Quake match.
Why? Because they make our gaming great
From mobile game to FPS sensation to third-person masterpiece, we had some incredibly deserving winners at today's Golden Joysticks Awards and some very commendable runners up.

Of course, there's be no Golden Joystick Awards at all if it wasn't for you lot casting your votes and making it all worth something.
And guess what. This year you voted so enthusiastically that you accidentally went and broke a Guiness World Record.
More than 2.06 million votes meant this year's effort had the most votes of any gaming awards on record. Top.

Mojang have an interim injunction. Not sure that i'd class that as a win just yet.... I imagine Zenimax's lawyers haven't finished with their legal shenanigans by quite a long way
