Is this the ultimate gaming setup?

Channel 5's The Gadget Show creates an immersive Battlefield 3 simulator

If you're serious about your games you might have a giant 60 inch TV and a 7.1 surround sound setup. But that's nothing compared to this.

Channel 5's The Gadget Show sought to build the ultimate gaming experience using an 'Igloo Vision Dome' and multiple projectors, along with a clever treadmill, Kinect, an array of paint guns and some fancy software to let you almost step into the action of Battlefield 3.

We'll say no more because explained below. It sounds like a gimmick, but the results are actually rather surprising.

Meh, Neil Buchanan showed you how to make one of these back in the day on art attack, and you didnt need all this fancy kit just some old toilet rolls and tin foil

It would be a great set up if it weren't for that soppy baldy bastard with the f**king lisp.

Can't stand the eyebrowed tit either.

    Stoopid eyebrowed tit!

What's the big deal, I have 2 of these in my shed.

In all seriousness though, we are one step closer to the holodeck!

My favourite quote "RPG IN THE FACE! But beacuse it's Andy man...glancing blow!"

That was pretty incredible. Andy McNab as well... What a beast! If only we could get some sort of smaller version of that treadmill for the living room. It would be great.

    Stoopid eyebrowed c**t!

    Grow up.

This looks incredible, and I was really surprised at how realistic it seems. The arcade of the future!

They were using the Kinect to bind other controls, he even demonstrates dragging someone by actually reaching out and grabbing.

Why did Virtual Reality never advance beyond the 90's, this is what we could all have by now if it did.

The tech wasnt good enough back then. I can see it making a comeback though.

    A great video too.

Gotta love the criticism of Jason Bradbury. The fact that he's probably a better gamer than most of you miserable t**ts in here, is neither here nor there.

Awesome set up though. Maybe they should replace the paintball guns with actual army issue weapons, then introduce all the W.R.O.N.G nominees to a game of battlefield 3.

I would love to teabag Suzie Perry with that setup.

I never wanna grow up. That's boring.

@Roy. It's a given that he'd be a better gamer than me, mate. Your little toe is a better gamer than me. I'm better at combing me own hair than Jathon though. When he reviews games, it's like he reading a games review written by a tabloid journalist.
Why oh why can't shows like this just review stuff instead of the stoopid challenges they always have too!

  17. roynluc on 26 Oct '11 said:

I actually enjoy the challenges they do. They put technology through its paces, unlike what a normal review would do.
It sure as hell beats Tomorrows World as a tech show.

In the new show they appeared to have turned the bonkers button down by one, which is a good thing , it was all a little too KWAZZY. I noticed that Suzi Perry is still looking rather attractive , and she complimented her outfit by wearing quite fetishy pvc boots and trousers which i dont think distracted from her professional standing as a .....................ooooomm mmm i so want to smash her one....oooeeeghgaoalgggh,,

I suppose this is the next step, isn't it, actually hurting from each bullet hitting you. You buy a full body suit and wear it for the game, and get battered from start to finish.

rbt, stop using the 'c' word within the article comments. I'm not too bothered about it within the OT forum, but keep it out of the comments section.

And before you do it, don't list all words you've typed within your posts that begin with the letter 'c'. I'm sure you don't need Sesame Street to figure out which one I'm on about.

His use of the C word was quoted in the Comments of the Week section a few weeks back with no issue from the administration of this site so why is it an issue now? As Mister RBT's legal advisor I would suggest a duel at dawn in the fancy gaming set up with Mister Baldy Slap Heid having the right to choose weapons.

Just because I don't want to see it within the comments section, where it's plain to see from the main pages, albeit asterisked out, but some people do find it offensive. I personally don't, I dislike the word Vag, that just makes it sound diseased and s**t.

I can understand where you are coming from, but this a bolt, horse and stable situation. Once he was quoted it becomes acceptable practise. I've been known to use the term, both in anger and jest. But I've also argued, at ONM of all places, that it should be a reclaimed word for the sake of feminism. That went down like a lead balloon.

But you can't argue it is acceptable in Off Topic but not here. Also your dislike of the term Vag would be considered offensive to feminists. Especially because of how you associate it mentally.

  39. roynluc on 31 Oct '11 said:

Wow, it's been a quoted word once within comments of the week.

It still doesn't make it right. I swear all the time in real conversation, every other word is practically f**k, so if I can counter an argument on here without resorting to using expletives, then I'm sure you lot can. As I said before, these comments are visible on main pages of the site, whereas you have to physically enter the forums to read the drivel that is Off Topic. And yes, it's mainly drivel in there. Off Topic died a long time ago and none of you have been able to revive it to its former glory.

That's my final word on the matter, except for if I see anyone using the 'c' word within the article comments, or even mis-quoting someone with it, they will be serving a ban.
