EA has released a trailer showing off the four player co-op mode in Starbreeze's upcoming Syndicate reboot.
The video asks players to 'assemble your own syndicates for a hostile takeover' before transitioning into one and half solid minutes of dudes shooting at each other.
Along the way we see a character pick up a briefcase, so we're guessing the four-player co-op will revolve around completing objectives, but we'll have to wait to find out if this is a seperate co-op story campaign or a Spec Ops type mode.
Competitive multiplayer can't be far behind right? Check out out the trailer below.
Speaking to CVG in a video interview you can watch here, senior level designer Andreas Gschwari revealed his team worked on a few different ideas for Syndicate before finally settling on an FPS.

I think its pretty telling here that in the video 'Infiltrate' is just people shooting s**t, the same as 'eliminate' and 'cooperate'.
So when they are winding on about it being something more than a bog standard FPS, how it stays true to the original ethos of Syndicate; what they actually mean is that they are shovelling out another tired (albeit pretty I'll bet) FPS, the same as 90% of the s**t thats turned out by the games industry at the moment.
ARGH. Not syndiacate!
Next up. David Braben Presents Elite IV Space Combat Soldier Warrior. Drawing on absolutely none of the atmosphere of the classic elite game you'll be able to be a passenger on a ship, taken to warzone after warzone shooting the mysterious aliens that were only ever vaugly mentioned in the original.
Populous : God Botherer Play as the elite God Warrior Molyneux. Decimate your enemies with the Rain of Fire and the Waters of Doom, all fired from your mystical God Cannon! Bring your opponents to their knees in worship to you, or blow them away in entirely typical shoot'em up extravaganza! We have Graphics and aren't afraid to use them!

That's assuming you can find at least 4 people who give a damn about this game.

So in the near future, business is war and that requires you send armed men and women into buildings to find a briefcase?
It hardly seems the most efficient use of resources if you are a multinational. Granted infiltrating a company and leaking company secrets to your real employer is hardly the most riveting of games but it seems much more likely than storming a building, killing all the employees and destroying the servers, that kind of thing gets noticed by the authorities.
Anyway before I'm banned for advocating acts of mass murder I loved syndicate but that was about 15 years ago on the amiga and this looks like any other FPS.

...yawn.
Starbreeze - can this abomination now, it really will be lead balloon of a game.
We do not want another FPS - you cannot compete with Gears, BF, CoD, Halo (to name but a few)
Go back to the original ways of Syndicate and become a market leader there, rather than a cheapo half arsed also ran
