Alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's launch last night, Activision also launched the brand new Call of Duty Elite service, designed for serious COD players, but it seems it's already been hit by problems.

"We are aware of the issue," said the Call of Duty Twitter feed, "Surge of new Elite registrations is creating reg & login issues. Teams are working now to increase capacity."
It seems that the service is working okay as well, it's just getting into it which is the current cause of woe. But never fear players, all your COD Elite data is being recorded and will be available once these teething problems are cleared up.
"Service is capturing all MW3 gameplay data. Data, heatmaps, and activity will be waiting for you upon registration", confirmed the Elite Twitter feed.
Indeed, it's rare that all goes smoothly was such a huge simultaneous operation and things may well have cleared up by this morning. So if you're a COD Elite user, let us know your experience of the service in the comments field below.

My thoughts on the service.....what service???
Currently you've been able to do nothing on the website and they have worked out they are being hit by capacity problems....here's a thought...
When your offering a service for what could be the biggest pre-ordered title of all time sticking it on a small server capacity isn't exactly the smartest of ideas. It is hardly a great start for Call Of Duty Elite

Why? people don't realise that problems will most certainly always occur when new services or features are implemented like Elite or Battlelog, especially when millions of players are trying to use it at the same time. Maybe its the CoD fans that will now realise what its like and how it feels now its happened to them on the service they use.

Anyone that is surprised by this or things that in anyway Activision has failed is a clown.
Launch day for MW3 which is most likely to be the biggest selling game of the year, is of course going to to crash servers left, right and centre. I don't expect to go home tonight and have smooth sailing when I try to go online, I don't even expect that tomorrow.
Servers are not built to withstand massive traffic, because it'll only be like this for about 2/3 days then it'll settle down to about half of what it is seeing now.

And suddenly everyone cares about the add on website service whose content (aside from stats) is up in the next few days as previously advertised
, the game works fine by the way, hours of online play and not a single hitch....

Hit back at what, they'll be swining at air! The game at least works and can be played, that was not the case with BF3. BF3 launched broken right out of the box...uh, actually it was broken "in" the box, and the gamer made the mistake of taking it out and trying to play it!

Elite having issues is hardly a problem is it? Its just a stats page. The main thing is that the game is working, and yes its working fine.

wish the problems would get fixxed
