Street Fighter II gets online play on Virtual Console

US and EU release confirmed for Mega Drive update

The Mega Drive/Genesis version of Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers is coming to Virtual Console with added online gameplay.

The online-enabled update was previously only confirmed for Japan but Capcom has chimed in via its official blog to confirm it will also hit US and European Wii Virtual Consoles, but there's no release date yet.

The Super Nintendo versions of Street Fighter II (Turbo and non-Turbo editions) have already released on the Virtual Console, but only in their original, strictly offline forms.

Who wants Capcom to just update the SNES versions with online? *Hands up*.
