Leak feedback could alter Mass Effect 3's plot

BioWare listening to fans' chatter following story leak

BioWare's Ray Muzyka has said the script for Mass Effect 3 has changed and may change even further away from the leaked version that slipped out earlier this month.

An internal beta version of the game was accidentally made live to outside gamers recently. A few got to play it, while others went further an hacked into the code to reveal plot details - including details of the game's ending.

Muzyka looks at this month's events under a positive light. "In the big picture, some more stories are generated around it and more interest in the game," he told Eurogamer, saying later in the interview that "only a small number of people are probably going to look at those spoilers in advance."

"It's hard to say something like that having a positive benefit, but if it gets more people to check out Mass Effect 3 that would be a positive benefit," he added.

But as BioWare has said, the script has already changed since the early version that leaked, and Muzyka says it could change more based on the chatter between those that have seen the spoilers.

"We listen to our fans all of the time. We listen to them on the forums, their feedback from stories. We're reading it all. If we can get ideas out of it that will make the game better, sure. We're not adverse to taking feedback. That's part of our core values, is humility. Any time we get a good idea from fans... they're our audience. They keep us in business," he said.
