Call of Duty Elite still coming to PC after all

Activision "misspoke" in saying service launch wasn't guaranteed

Call of Duty Elite is still coming to PC after all, although launch timing has yet to be determined.

Clarification on the matter was issued by Activision after a post on the Elite Twitter account earlier this week said the company "cannot guarantee if or when a version will be available for the PC".

Backtracking on those comments, a more recent update reads: "We misspoke. Our goal has always been to provide a free PC offering for Elite. Stay tuned for an update as timing is still being determined."

The PC launch of Elite was delayed to give developer Beachhead time to create "a safe environment" for players, studio head Chacko Sonny said earlier this month.

"The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform," he explained. "Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can't give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly."
