Game Boy classic Metroid II - Return of Samus is available to download on 3DS via the Nintendo eShop this week.

The second instalment of the Metroid series sees Samus Aran on a mission to rid planet SR388 of the Metroid menace.

GO Series: Escape Trick Rock City Prison, Just Sing! Christmas Vol. 3 and Big Town Shoot Out also arrive to download for Nintendo platforms. Full details follow:

Metroid II - Return of Samus - 3DS, €4 / £3.60
Description: The Game Boy's exclusive chapter in the Metroid series sees Samus Aran on a mission to rid planet SR388 of the Metroid menace. Enjoy new abilities like the Spider Ball, and powerful new weapons like the Plasma Beam, as you eradicate the Metroids once and for all.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told investors last month that the company plans to up its game on the digital content front by introducing demos and DLC to the 3DS eShop.
