MAG/Socom dev reveals new Vita shooter with video

Zipper Interactive working on third-person shooter Unit 13

Zipper Interactive, developer of Socom games and MAG on PS3, have revealed a new shooter for PlayStation Vita called Unit 13.

It's a third-person shooter that uses the twin-analogue sticks and rear touch panel of the handheld to provide "a unique and fun way to interact quickly with in-the-world elements of the game".

As Zipper explains, players choose from "one of six Operatives with unique abilities to tackle 36 action-packed missions across nine unique locales".

Missions range from quick shoot outs to long, multi-objecting stages with greater levels of challenge.

"As you make your way through the variety of missions, you unlock the right to take on the tougher High Value Target (HVT) enemy battles. After completing an HVT mission, you can share them with friends and nearby players through PlayStation Vita's "NEAR" feature," details the developer.

The game will feature online co-op play with voice chat enabled. Making further use of the portable's online conductibility, Zipper details: "Unit 13s live notification interface, enabled through 3G, keeps players up to date on leaderboard positions, new "Daily Challenge" content, new unlocks, shared High Value Target missions, and challenges from friends as they move past you on the leaderboards."

Have a look at it in the video below.

There's no specific release date but Zipper says to look out for it "right around launch". Vita is out on February 22. Below are the first screenshots.

Sony confirmed Vita's first-party EU launch line-up today, which dons exciting names like Uncharted and WipEout.

Hmm is it me or is there TOO much stuff coming to Vita?

Too much choice is just as bad little choice (ok maybe not).

^^^ Sony would rather not make the same mistake the 3DS did.

Would be cool if there was a massive action handheld game incoming.
Enjoyed Mag a lot but it doesn't seem supported very well any more.
