People Can Fly could assume development duties on future Gears of War titles, according to the rumour section in the latest issue of the US Official Xbox Magazine.

Epic itself is currently working on prequel content for the Gears trilogy. Set to be released next month as Gears 3's first campaign DLC, RAAM's Shadow will drop players into the events of Sera post-Emergence Day, as Zeta Squad is enlisted to evacuate Ilima City and protect the citizens against a Locust Kryll storm.
In addition to fighting as a new squad of Gears, players will get to step into the boots of General RAAM, the fearsome Locust leader killed at the end of the original game. Could Epic be testing gamers' appetites with a view to making a full-blown prequel?
OXM also says it isn't buying recent rumours about an imminent Xbox 720 reveal. "Will the next Xbox be revealed at E3 2012 as some have predicted? Not likely, reveals The Ball."

Is it a rumour or a scenario - you suggest a rumour in the title, but the article says it is a scenario. They are not the same thing.

Really? More Gears of Bore? Can't we just leave the guys sharing lingering hot glances in their delightfully camp homo-erotic retirement home?

Well if they do they can drop the f**king silverback from horde mode. I hate that thing, it just makes everything so tedious and unbalances it. I'm old school, I only need/want a lancer, and I've got the skills to pay the bills. Infinite ammo my arse, its a talent compensator if ever I've seen one.
And the horde command centre is s**t too.
There you go, PCF, couple of starting points for you to work with.

Bulletstorm dev to make Gears of War prequel trilogy?

Ah, yes. Valid point. However, the facts don't mesh with my carefully worded sarcasm, so I'm just going to ignore them. Huzzah!

That looks like it will put paid to a Bulletstorm sequel which was wayyyyy better than Gears 3. I was expecting a grim struggle to the death with almost everyone getting killed. And which of you mofo's voted for Carmine to live? It's not a Gears game without a dead Carmine. Anyway, we know that there is gonna be more Gears as Cliffy B virtually admitted it in interview the day after Gears 3 was released.

I'd rather they made another Bulletstorm but a Gears prequel would be interesting.

Cool sounds good loved gears 3 can't wait for more at least it will stop pcf from making any more Bulletstorm games Bulletstorm was a bit rubbish the best bit was the gears 3 beta on the 360 version.

I certainly bloody hope not! I don't want People Can Fly working on Gears of sodding War. I'd much rather see a Bulletstorm sequel or a new IP from them.

You do realise PCF worked on Gears 3 right? ^^^^^^

More Gears can only be a good thing, though I never played Bulletstorm outside of the demo... Which I thought was a little too shallow for my tastes. People Can Fly will have a lot to live up to though- Gears 3 is the best 3rd person shooter out there at the moment.
Only thing is if it's a prequel then I assume it'll be set during the pendulum wars... Which means dude vs dude battles... But the locust were an awesome (and versatile) enemy. Won't be the same unless there's plenty of giant chunky monsters covered in eyes, guns and claws.

If it's a prequel, I really hope we are not stuck with the retro lancer. I hate that gun. The lancer / shotgun combo is one of my favourite parts of the gears franchise.
But I wonder who the characters might be. Possibly Marcus' dad, Tai for the token black guy spot, Dizzy, and probably the captain guy what ever his name was. I am sure they were all pretty hard in their younger days.
