EA will honour its original promise of offering owners of the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 a free downloadable copy of Battlefield 1943.

EA had initially tried to palm off Battlefield 3 PS3 owners by saying they'd be getting timed-exclusive DLC for the game instead, but we already knew that, so the whole thing seemed a bit cheeky on the publisher's part.
"There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3," the firm said in a statement. "To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month."
Battlefield 1943 PSN vouchers will be available for BF3 PS3 owners in Europe on November 26, in America on December 10 and in Asia/Japan on December 17. To download your copy, follow these simple steps.

And they should. Well done EA, do the right thing(even tho, i am not bothered about it. I got the game already)

It's pathetic that it took the threat of legal action to prompt this.
Even more so as I went out and bought the game last week because we weren't getting it.
Now I'm p**sed!

Bought 1943 when it first came out years ago and enjoyed it. Then Sony gave it away as part of PS+ (or it was dirt cheap or something). Now EA are giving it away? It's like a used dirty mag in the schoolyard...

Good to hear, but it's sad that it took legal action to get us here.

Was anyone else like me under the impression the impression that the Back To Karkand maps were free if you preordered only when i arrived at game in birmingham to pick up my copy the maps were only sold in limited edition copies which cost a fiver extra.
So at the end of the day they cost me a fiver and not free as the maps were the the only difference between a normal copy and limited edition yet every add i seen in the run up to release clearly stated the maps were free to those who preorder.

@Two Pennys Worth:
I pre-ordered the Ltd Ed and it cost the same as the standard edition elsewhere, I guess wherever you bought your copy from just shafted you on the price.

I read in EDGE that EA are being sued for having "misled and profited from thousands of their customers by making a promise that they could not, and never intended, to keep."
As a consequence a free Battlefield 1943 download should be made available from this Saturday (as least on the PSN store). Will EA still produce large maps for BF3 and will the PS3 owners get them earlier?
I couldn't care less since I don't like BF3 and I bought 1943 over a year ago (unplayable at the time due to saturated servers).

I just can't believe that it took the threat of a legal case to actually get EA/Dice to include it. It should have been included on day one.
