DLC plans for tiny Ridge Racer Vita revealed

Cars and courses available in monthly content updates

You probably weren't very impressed when you heard Ridge Racer for the PS Vita will only ship with three old courses and five cars. But it turns out Namco Bandai is planning to release weekly content updates for the game beginning in December.

Japanese games mag Famitsu revealed the pricing and schedule for the DLC releases. December 22 kicks off the DLC updates with a free music pack, which features music tracks from past Ridge Racer titles. Free music packs will continue to be released into January and February.

The first paid DLC pack will hit in February. On February 23, we'll see at least one car priced at 250 Yen (approximately £2) and one course costing 400 Yen (about £3.30). Famitsu also states that there will be three cars and two courses in March, and four cars and three courses in April and May. No pricing was revealed for these.

Some of the DLC will be available as part of a bundle though. A pack containing all the DLC through May will be available on February 16 for 1,600 Yen (£13), though this will be discounted to 1,000 Yen (£8) through February 29.

We're still waiting for an official announcement from Namco Bandai regarding the official UK pricing, but until then we only have these rough estimates.

So what say you, readers? Are you happy to shell out for new cars and courses every month? Think more should have been included in the first place? Sound off in the comments below.

    3 courses? 5 cars?
    wont be buying this then!
Honestly, this is shameful from Namco - and, as such, all this DLC should be free to mugs who pick RR vita up at launch.

    £2 per car...
DLC spreading to handhelds ftw <3
I wonder how bad 3DS DLC will be... I know Nintendo said they'd be the same as usual, but wouldn't stop 3rd parties doing whatever they want.

Well I'm not buying a Vita now that the accessories have been revealed to be utterly ridiculous in price. Namco can go f**k itself too with a copy of RR. It was clearly obvious that this was the route that they were going to take with the game.

I hope they enjoy their low sales figures. What a ridiculous marketing strategy.
