Dragon Age will be the latest BioWare series to introduce an online multiplayer component.
That's according to a Kotaku insider, who told the site the role playing franchise is to feature an arena-based multiplayer affair offering player versus environment and player versus player battles. Dragons will also apparently be playable.
The tipster said they weren't sure if Dragon Age multiplayer will be released as part of the next core series update, which is expected to be Dragon Age 3, or as a standalone title that could be downloadable.
Dragon Age multiplayer is reportedly being built using DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, which powered Battlefield 3, and is said to look stunning even in its early form.
Kotaku's source is presumably the same one who also claimed this week that EA's planning to follow up Dead Space 3 with FPS, flight and Uncharted-style action games set in the sci-fi universe.
