F.E.A.R. 3 dev 'suffers major layoffs' as Konami pulls game

Day 1 Studios reportedly cuts team formerly working on a Silent Scope game

F.E.A.R. 3 developer Day 1 Studios has laid off approximately 100 staff.

That's according to a GameSpot source, who said the affected employees had been working on a new entry in the Silent Scope shooter series before the Chicago-based studio lost its publishing deal with Konami.

The report also claims Day 1 - which employs 140 strong staff, according to its website - is winding down operations in preparation for closure.

Founded in 2001, it has developed two MechAssault games for the original Xbox, Fracture for LucasArts, helped with the console ports of the original F.E.A.R., and most recently made F.E.A.R. 3.
