Why: For their creative anti-piracy measures
Rather than suffocate the game with over-protective and draconian DRM measures that only annoy the legitimate customers and get cracked by pirates within a day anyway, Croteam opted to put a more original and creative anti-piracy trick in Serious Sam 3.
Users playing the pirate copy will encounter a machine-gun wielding scorpion early on in the game. Nothing out of the ordinary usually, but this machine-gun wielding scorpion is pretty damn nippy, and pretty damn invincible to boot, leaving pirates no choice but to run, or buy the game. Hopefully they'll do the latter.

OnLive released their app for iOS and Android recently, and to celebrate they're giving away a free copy of LEGO: Batman. No strings attached - LEGO: Batman is yours, even if you don't sign up to any of the OnLive packages.
Still... LEGO: Batman.... it's the thought that counts, right?
Who: This guy
Why: For doing this...
