Sony has sent over a batch of screens from the official Japanese PlayStation Vita launch event.
The handheld went on sale in Japan early on Saturday morning, with Sony reportedly shipping around 700,000 units to retailers for launch.
There was a queue at the official launch venue, which was attended by PlayStation bosses Kaz Hirai and Andrew House, but it might have been bigger had events not kicked off at 7am. According to media reports, 1,000s were lined up waiting for multiple retailers to open their doors.
Early Japanese adopters have stuck their glistening Vitas next to the original PSP and snapped a few comparison shots, which you can see here. Some have also reported issues with the new portable, such as freezes and unresponsive touch screens.
