First Modern Warfare 3 DLC hits Xbox 360 in January

Maps and Spec Ops missions teased; PS3 and PC launch details to be revealed in 2012

Infinity Ward has revealed that the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC will launch on January 24, 2012.

t'll be available to Call of Duty Elite members on Xbox Live first.

Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling said in a Call of Duty Elite video that Modern Warfare 3 will offer more varied DLC than previous series entries, and confirmed that IW, Sledgehammer and Raven are all working on updates for the game.

"The way we're doing downloadable content this year is unlike we've never done before," he said. "Not only in how you can get it - in content drops or choose for the collection - but also the type of content you're getting. We're doing more than just maps. We're going to do Spec Ops missions and a variety of things that players have never seen before.

"That's the great thing about having three developers that are contributing to the season of content. You have Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Raven all pitching in. The full season of content for Modern Warfare 3 kicks off for Elite subscribers on January 24 on Xbox Live."

We asked Activision if PS3 Elite subscribers will have to wait an extra month for access to the content, as has previously been the case with Call of Duty DLC releases following an Xbox 360 exclusivity deal announced at E3 2010. A spokesperson sent us the following response:

"Today we informed the Call of Duty Elite Premium community that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Elite Content Season will officially kick off on January 24 for Xbox users. We'll have more details about the entire 2012 MW3 Content Season in early January, so stay tuned for updates."

A Modern Warfare 3 update released last week introduced Community Playlists, featuring a new multiplayer game type called Drop Zone.

I'm glad they're adding more Spec Ops missions as DLC. That's something they should have done with MW2.

so, even tho I've got elite on ps3 I still have to wait so the xbox fanboys can get it before ps3 users?

Not just xbox fanboys, but all xbox owners get it (IDIOT)

Very good deathvalleydemon but did you mean the COD fanboys who own 360's get it first?

Surely if these maps are being released first to Elite members then they won't be put into normal rotation until its full release meaning these will only be available in private matches?

That 'Xbox 360 exclusivity deal' is ending sometime in 2012 i think. But that is just taking the p*ss really :-/ So if you spent all that money on that expensive PS3 version(Hardened Edition) you still have to wait a month? ? ? F**K Activision i say(that is why i will never buy their games anymore or DLC) Oh i got MW3 but someone got it as a present for me lol

This is the reason I will prob never buy a multiplatform game on PS3 over the 360.

Well and the fact that they are usually better on the X360 anyway
    And they have achievements
And the pad with real triggers are better
    And Xbox live is better
And more people will be online on the X360

    ...just saying.

To be honest - this is my reasons too - especially for games you know you want dlc for as well because the PSN is so slow and takes ages to download (updates as well...)

It seems that the only games that are really good on the PS3 are the exclusives (or the odd few that came out a lot later on PS3 like ME2 as that is running on the ME3 engine)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am hoping they add quite a few new maps and maybe some re-makes of former maps too. I am looking forward to seeing what additional stuff they add to but Maps are the most important to me. Personally I would like ALL maps from the previous MW titles (including all the DLC ones for them) I think it is a shame that they cannot be imported from one to the other if you already had them.

nor Medal of Honor Frontlines HD coming with the PS3 MoH,or Assassins Creed 1 coming with PS3 Assassins Creed revelations,or whatever the hell it was that PS3 players got with Dead Space 2,or Playable Joker in Arkham Asylum.

    well,you get the idea

but you do hear of PS3 people complaining when they don't get BF43 when it was promised to them when buying BF3,LOL

Your support for Micro$oft, and 360, is embarassing. I like Sony but my cock isn't up their arse. I regularly criticise them, whereas you just keep teabagging M$. I'm sure they're very grateful for a blind fanboys support. Let's pick apart your points, not facts, points.

Better on 360, 1 persons opinion, they're just as good on PS3 and 360.

Achievements aren't nothing, and neither are trophies, even though I like earning them. Unless you can take them to the bank and request a cash swap deal, there's no point to any of them.

The PS3 has real triggers as well, your blind fanboy support has seemingly overlooked this fact.

Xbox live isn't better, there's more s**t on there, and more s**t doesn't equal better. Quality over quantity.

There's millions and millions online on PS3, if not more than 360, so don't know what your point is there. :?

Keep on supporting M$, I'm sure they're eager to send cheques your way very soon

Got years worth of elite for £5 on my ps3 so i cant really complain that much, its all prepaid for, be nice if Elite users got it a week orso before the non subscribers on their system tho, just to help make eliteactually seem worthwhile because so far i've not actually seen a reason as to why folk should have paid £35 for it. I'm much preferring battlefield 3 anyways, sure the chat is f***ed but the overall game is more enjoyable for me than CoD games

I've been wrongfully called a ps3 fanboy from time to time and will reiterate that I may own ps3 only but have enjoyed a few games on 360, ie: Gears, Halo and Forza. However some of the fanboy bull said above is becoming tiresome (looking at you NEO_Superman!!!)The main issue I would have is that if I had just bought the normal copy of mw3 or even the hardened edition and joined up for elite, then why should an elite member on ps3 have to still wait the 30 days for 360 to have their exclusivity? All's fair in love and war but Elite should not have been launched until this deal between activi$ion and m$ was up and give a level playing field for the next iteration in the cod series. I was going to get elite as soon as news emerged of dlc to see if an amendment had been made by Acti to allow ps3 elite members get the dlc at the same time as their 360 counterparts. Alas, and I knew this would be the case, I won't be forking over €60 extra for the privilage, and may even consider not getting the pack. That last bit depends on quality of the dlc.
I know that sound fanboyish, but if the roles where reversed, I would honestly be saying the same thing, not trolling for a fight. In terms of full games, each system should have a core of exclusive games ie: (360- Gears, Halo etc and PS3- Uncharted, God of War etc) to give the consumer a good choice and offer good value for money (if that makes sense). Multiplatform releases should be same day launch on both systems (as they are obviously) but (and here's my point finally), most importantly the dlc should be launched same day. Level playing field, everyone is happy and no flaming wars on the Internet. Just read absolutely childish comments on Facebook over this and this is my problem with games today. Buy what you want or like for whatever system you own, play and enjoy and leave it at that. Sadly, noobs love to stir the s**t!!

If console exclusive DLC has to happen (which it does these days) then more games should do what EA/Visceral did with Dead Space (PS3 & 360 themed suits and weapons) and offer exclusive content to all systems.

I quite a agree about the PSN!! compared to live it is awful but thankfully FREE I know that these DLC will also be downloaded a LOT quicker on Live than over PSN. It took over an hour to download Back to Karland!! Both connect to the internet by the much preferred and quicker method of 'wired' through the same hub. Online games do seem slower paced over PSN to me - especially if I go from the xbox to playing the same game on PS3 (CoD is a classic example)

I have both consoles connected to the same 1080p 46" TV and both are very capable machines graphically but a lot of games on PS3 are made are not 1080p (that is, I believe down to the creators of the games not the console - but doesn't mean the games are bad looking though) - the console is definitely capable of producing some of the best graphics on a console and I maintain Uncharted 3 is the best on any!

The only reason the Playstation is flawed is that the developers who make multi-platform games cannot port to the PS3 and utilize that power easily especially as the RAM chip 512k is split in two on the PS3 - 256k to handle graphics and 256 to handle the processing. The xbox has 512k too but it available to do everything. That's why a lot of exclusive games on PS3 are fantastic because the developers know how to utilise that chip set-up better.

But that's just my view on it anyway

These comments are amazing. Again, why reply to idiocy with more idiocy?

Anyone who loves CoD enough to buy the snazzy edition must have known that the 360 gets the DLC first, it's not anything new. More fool them for buying it if that's the case. And Elite is about paying upfront and getting the DLC cheaper than buying it separately, plus more stat stuff isn't it? Nothing to do with getting it earlier - if people are stumping up for something and not looking into what they're actually paying for, especially with Activision, then that's kind of their own fault too as far as I can see.

God, I don't even like or own the game and I know that.
