Timothy Williams, a composer that has created music for the recent Conan the Barbarian film, Rise of the Argonauts, and Valve's DOTA 2 has listed God of War 4 as one of the project he's worked on, providing another indication that Sony is working on a new entry in the franchise.

In October of last year Sony put the word out for a senior staff concept artist to "Join the GOW team".
A month later New Zealand-based online retailer Mighty Ape listed God of War 4 for release in 2012, giving strength to PSM3's insider information, which said that a fourth entry in the series is set for release around September 2012.
It seems like there's too much evidence to ignore it. Fingers crossed for an announcement soon.

I love the GOW franchise, but I really hope they move on from Greek Mythology now...(And after GOW3, I can't see how they couldn't...) If they can find a compelling way to throw Kratos into norse or (my preference) Egyptian mythology, I'm all for it.
But please, no co-op and an involving narrative. Ta!

Excited now!
GOW3 was amazing!
The graphics and set pieces are on par with the Unchanted series and Batman AC and are still among the best on ps3.
The gameplay needs to change next time round though.
AND PLEASE NO CO-OP

I like that idea actually. There are plenty of mythology's the series could go down. Except for Christianity, as Dante's Inferno has already done that and Islam as they won't appreciate it...not even a tiny bit.

GoW 4 is going to have to do some crazy new stuff to stay relevant. The same type of gameplay in the previous installments is not going to cut it in this day and age. It's archaic.

Yeah Slick I think you may be right there
"God of War 4: Wrath of Jesus" has a certain ring to it I reckon. Think about it, it'd make sense. Jesus fighting back against the Romans basically, tables are turned now!. Makes sense to my tired intoxicated little brain cells
