DigiTimes is reporting that Apple will begin readying materials for its rumoured iTV in the first quarter of this year, in preparation for a Q3 launch.

The displays of the new iTV sets will initially focus on 32 and 27 inch, note "sources in the supply chain".
The DigiTimes report also claims that unlike the Apple TV set-top boxes, which launched in 2006, Apple iTVs will be full TV sets. Allegedly, Apple may still continue to launch its next-generation set-top box in 2012 though.
Rumours of iTV have been floating around since Apple Founder Steve Jobs passed away in October, who said in his autobiography that he had "finally cracked" the TV space.
"I'd like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use," he said. "It would be seamlessly synched with all of your devices and with iCloud. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine."
Reports also suggest that the TVs will be Siri-powered, and we reported in November that the Apple iTV looks set to launch this year.

So when does the court case start? Well, the first and obvious one

ITV... what an original name.

Now we all know Apple love a law suit, but iTV?
What about ITV? Lawyers must be rubbing their hands with glee

You lot do realise that ITV have all ready threatened lawsuit and the the name has already been changed to Apple TV?
Imaduck on 3 Jan '12 said:
Nope. Doesn't matter anyways, they'll still be in court over something to do with it within a year at the absolute max.

Surely they will have to rename/rebrand it for the UK market elsewhere is fine but here people know iTV as the TV channel.
Of course if Apple could just buy iTV they are nothing compared to how much Apple has lying around.

I'm sure they'll figure out something. Surely even Apple wouldn't want to make a huge fuss by calling it "iTV" when they could just call it something else.
03b2wgm on 3 Jan '12 said:
I would actually laugh if that happened.
Barca Azul on 3 Jan '12 said:
I'm guessing it will be iTV everywhere except the UK.
The screen sizes seem a bit small! Touchscreen?
Aer0Smith360 on 3 Jan '12 said:
I would be interested in one depending if it were worth buying! plus i would assume the price shall be HIGH, VERY HIGH!
...@Barca Azul would make sense if the name was changed for the UK. Hope it isn't touchscreen as i couldn't be bothered getting up touching things to change channel etc, plus the smugges/fingerprints on the screen would do my nut in

More crap for the Sheep to glorify. will someone just bankrupt this f**king company already & lay to to rest with it's dead founder .
markyR on 3 Jan '12 said:
It won't be called iTV, that is only the name all the rumour sites have given it because it's got a small i in it!! As for Apple launching a television, I actually pray they NEVER do as I cannot stand reading reports or idiots proclaiming Apple has invented television, and I mean invented as it just simply never existed before Apple made it
But knowing Apples pricing thankfully they will price themselves out of most peoples pockets. Plus their isn't anything they can do different except make you think paying them for your content is a revolution.....
Oh and judging by the history of Apple, I wouldn't be surprised if they DID call it iTV in the UK and just told ITV to f**k off, that's the normal Apple attitude..
In fact CVG has become somewhat of an Apple obsessed website over the last few months? Why? What has a television made by Apple rumour got to do with games?

Could not have said it any better myself.

When people talk about stuff on the 'cloud' or on an 'icloud' do they just mean 'stored on a server somewhere'? Isn't that what 'stored online' means? ISPs have been giving away online storage for years. Or am I getting my iwires crossed?

Frankly I'd support em if they told ITV to f**k off, it's about time someone did, the channels embarrassingly bad now.
Erm because you'll be able to play iPad/iPhone games on it? Wow it took me all of two seconds to think of that. Pull yer finger out.
As for CVG's new found stance on iOS gaming, I can only summise that CVG has finally woken up to the fact that Apple devices can provide great gaming experiences in their own right, something other websites and wiser gamers have known for a good couple of years now, but hey better late than never eh?
03b2wgm on 3 Jan '12 said:
You're one of the few people on this website I've seen say that. Most people are of the opinion that:
iOS gaming = Angry Birds + other "casual" games using a touch screen which in their eyes is inferior to anything else.
Honestly, I thought that was all it was good for too, but it turns out, it's not so bad.
Don't knock it until you've tried it kids.

Because TV sets are notoriosly complicated devices.

Well as your an iToy fan I won't waste my time arguing with you as you follow the cult of Apple. Personally I am not brainwashed enough to think playing Apples App games on a TV is better then Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo..... or even PC...
not much of an argument... plus as I stated, they will pursued you that paying APPLE for all your content is revolutionary.
Seriously? Your argument is that I can play iToy games on it!!!???
TheLastDodo on 4 Jan '12 said:
Wow, your ignorance and delusion is amazing.
I make one positive remark about iOS gaming and I'm an Apple fanboy?
Aren't you the biggest Vita fanboy on this site? Aren't you the same markyR that has been attacking others for criticising your beloved Vita? Yeah exactly, try harder hypocrite.
It's a shame you've deluded yourself into thinking that iPhone/iPad gaming is the devil, you'll miss out on many fantastic titles at incredibly cheap prices, but thats what being close minded gets you.

Happy New Year much? Quit f**king bitching people. I promise to try too. Let's try to get a sort of positive run going again huh?

bit concerned with sharp making the panels for the screens, always thought sharp screen tend to be a bit weak, as for samsung making chips, hence i'm sure they will sue apple and vice verse about something along the way.
Also they seem to be a bit small, probably cost treble the price of the same size sets from other makers.
also if voice controlled, they won't work with a glasgow accent either
corkscru74 on 4 Jan '12 said:
As long as all those devices are over priced and made by apple.
Plus, you know, 32inch? What is this, the eighties?!?!
markyR on 4 Jan '12 said:
No I based my assumption of you from your other posts, like the ones where you state the VITA is crap and iOS gaming is the best thing ever etc..
And I have had an iPhone for 3 years now I think and can certainly state for gaming it's crap. Tower defense games and games using swipe gestures are the sensible ones, FPS game are an utter joke on it's 3.5" screen, it just fails with the controls. Hence why the VITA will be so much better.
Real Racing is good however and I am looking forward to the 'special' game Firemint are working on, apparently it's a new Need For Speed exclusive! EA brought Firemint.
But as I said, on the whole FPS games are dreadful on touchscreen devices.
TheLastDodo on 4 Jan '12 said:
Now you're just making stuff up.
Please give me the link to this imaginary post where I said the Vita is crap.
As for iOS FPS games, I haven't tried any yet so I won't debate with you there.
More importantly, why are you getting so wound up about one persons positive experience of iOS gaming? Go to the General Gaming forum on CVG and you'll see there are many others that enjoy iOS gaming, and why do you lash out at others that find flaws with the Vita?
markyR on 4 Jan '12 said:
Because 1 persons positive experience of iOS gaming does not automatically mean the same apps on an Apple TV will be amazing and better then anything else. And you posted enough in the Vita threads on here I don't need to post any proof. Plus how can you have any argument if you haven't tried all game types on iOS systems? You haven't tried FPS genre yet still proclaim iOS as better then the Vita? Sound like a typical Apple fan to me, no I am not going to define why.
TheLastDodo on 4 Jan '12 said:
You won't post any proof because you know you haven't got any proof to post.
Typical keyboard warrior, talks trash until it's time to back up his words and then he retreats back into his shell rather than admit he's in the wrong. Unlike yourself, I'll back up my words.
I thought you could be reasoned with but you're not worth the effort anymore so I'll leave you with this:

The words of someone that hates the Vita right?
Goodnight.

Anyway Dodo I wouldn't try any FPS games on the iphone, they are utter garbage to control.

Thats why I haven't tried any Grolsch, they all look crap on youtube

The closest I've found is Rage, which imo is a great game on the iphone, but it's an on rails FPS.
