Skyward Sword's Hylian language gets translated

Dedicated fans crack the code behind Skyward's mumbo-jumbo

If you assumed the Hylian symbols seen in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was just a bunch of random scribbles purely for aesthetic effect, you'd be wrong.

There are real words hidden in those mysterious transcripts, and despite the game's proclamation that "this ancient text can not be translated," one dedicated fan has done just that.

According to Zelda Universe (via Kotaku), those trying to translate the text into Earthling words were having trouble with the letters J, Q, and X.

But a fan by the alias of 'Sarinilli' has cracked it, releasing translations complete with a snazzy font for all those interested in squeezing more value out of Nintendo's latest quest.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has recently become the 45th Wii title to sell more than 1 million units in the US, after another good year for Nintendo.
