Steam, Andy Payne and EA are in CVG's Heroes and Villains of the week

Our champs and chumps of the past seven days...

It's our first week back in the new year and already we have people committing gaming crimes.

On the other hand though, there are a fair share of heroes too this week. We've picked three of each from the past seven days.

Who: Steam
For: Passing 5 million concurrent users

Well done, Steam! The digital download service boasts 35 million active users and over 1800 games available to purchase from the store. Impressive.

Say "PC gaming is dead" again! SAY "PC GAMING IS DEAD" AGAIN! I DARE YOU, I DOUBLE DARE YOU....

Who: Yu Suzuki
For: Talking about Shenmue

While there's nothing particularly heroic about talking about an old game you made, he did say he could possibly buy the Shenmue IP from Sega and make it himself. We're secretly hoping that he'll do it if we put him here. Go on, Yu. Do it!

Who: Andy Payne
For: Receiving an OBE for services to the UK games industry

Payne, who is one of the most respected and well liked executives in the UK games industry, is also chairman of The Producers and works with the likes of BAFTA and GamesAid.

"I am truly surprised, honoured and very proud to have been awarded an OBE," he told MCV. "I am truly thankful to have worked with so many fabulous people down the years and am proud of our great industry."

Congratulations Andy, you deserve it.
