Bethesda, id Software's parent company, has confirmed reports of layoffs at the Rage development house.
The firm has officially confirmed that an unspecified number of employees on the Rage development team have been laid off. The firm says the layoffs are simply "part of its standard business practice".
"id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio. As part of that process, some id employees were recently let go," it told Joystiq today.
It went on to say that the studio is "still recruiting and hiring qualified developers" and that "development work on future id titles continues unabated," which is good news.
Rage was released to generally positive reviews late last year.
