played MW3... the spec ops and survival are good, but!... they are too hard to complete lone wolf on veteran (which i done on MW2) and the online is appalling - you pick a level and 3 stars... then you are regardlessly assigned a completely different level - and a partner who has chosen 1 star, so you can attain maximum 1 star - which you already got on your lonesome (if not 2)
f**king the most useless matchmaking i have ever seen by a hundred thousand miles... absolutely tragic.
billion $ game, and they can't invest in a few servers. greedy whores.

It still amazes me that so many people paid 40 quid for what is essentially a new set of maps for MW2

Can't believe that Modern Warfare 3 out sold every other game in 2011, despite being released only 2 months before 2012. What I am saying, of course I can! Black Ops is in there too...it bothers me because I can see other games seeing these results and thinking "how can we make our game more like CoD?"

Good to see TES beat battlefield 3(A game soullessly made to become the next COD) as it's a series that is made either because of demand(from me mainly I would not of tolerated another Fallout 3 clone) or because the developer themselves wanted to make it. Also it give bethesda(who publish their own games) a nice finacial bed to spend a long time on their next game if they so choose, which they prob will after the bugs TES had on ps3

Not really played it then have you mate?
For it's detractors it is such an easy argument to say that millions of gamers across the globe who buy the COD games are stupid just because they don't like it, turn that argument around and it's clear where the stupidity lies. I get people don't like it but thats life, I don't like Skyrim but don 't feel the need to tell everyone...... constantly.... ever time a new Skyrim topic comes up.

Fair comment!

I thought BF3 was infinitely better than MW3. In every sense, campaign, coop and MP. The missus bought MW3 for me and it was traded in 3 days later, because it was so poor in comparison. I will never buy another COD game unless the entire thing is completely refreshed.

I was looking forward to BF3 more than MW3. Not having liked previous MW games I found MW3 really entertaining and better than BF3. I also love Skyrim even though I wasn't into Oblivion or any of the Fallout games. So good to see Skyrim selling well.

I'm with you there. Looks like IO went that route with the new Hitman.
Headsrinker on 13 Jan '12 said:
Play BF3 on the PC and MW3 doesn't even come anywhere near touching it. It is the best FPS game of the last 5 years, never mind 2011.

this this and THIS! Though I happen to like Skyrim, just as a gamer, this comment sums up my thoughts everytime i see people rant about Modern Warfare. Okay I get it! You no likey!

Yet you just did in a new Skyrim topic

By all means, put right the idiots that slag off MW3 even if they haven't played MW3 but don't pretend swisspez hasn't got a point either, it is essentially the same campaign (which I enjoyed immensely BTW), a slightly tweaked co-op and slightly tweaked multiplayer with new, albeit crap maps, if you're happy to pay 40 quid for essentially the same game as the year before then fair enough but don't treat all detractors as "me no like CoD therefore it's s**t" types, swisspez just condensed his feelings and those of fans of the series (not "haters") into one nice short sentence.
RandyChimp on 13 Jan '12 said:
I'm getting sort of sick of the slagging off of COD now. It's hardly the best series around, but it's mindless fun. The people going on about how bad it is are becoming more tedious than the series itself. MW3 was mindless fun, and it was f**kloads better than Black Ops.
Let it go. I don't like Zelda, but I won't go on articles about Zelda just to slag it off. Do something more useful with your time.

At DoDo
What Skyrim topic?
I take your point and that's why I didn't aim the main post at Swisspez. What I'm saying is that the COD debate is effectively dead (until it changes markedly) the two sides so polarised that sideswipes at it have become immensely tired. Also once more I do not get what people expect from COD? Were people really expecting a whole new game, was this the case with Batman, BF, Forza, FIFA? The campaign is similar not the same, MP is very similar (in some respects) but not the same, I may be getting old and picky but claiming MW3 is the same as MW2 is totally incomprehensible to me, a revolution it isn't for sure but the same? Where are these sequels in gaming that are hugely different to the last one? (not including ones that had to change because they were awful)

Technically it's a Skyrim topic

It was cool to like COD years ago, and now its done the usual thing when your parents start to like something that is now popular and 'cool', everyone jumps on the 'its cool to hate it' bandwagon instead.
KK-Headcharge78 on 13 Jan '12 said:
Ha! technicalities will be my downfall...
swisspez on 14 Jan '12 said:
Fair point, sequels are never that far removed from the last game, but its nice to see some improvement at least. From the few hours I spent on MW3 (yes I have played it!) there was no improvement at all, just different maps and a bit of tinkering. It looks hideous compared to BF3 and it was good to see EA had put a lot of effort in trying to improve on BF2 (even if they didn't on many aspects in my opinion).
Trouble is they knew full well that a new COD would sell like crazy, regardless of how little effort they put into it, they could churn out the same game another 10 times and the same people will buy it, and that don't sit well with me.
Its like Christmas hits albums, who the f**k keeps buying them!? Surely you have all those songs on the one you bought last year!!

It is sad to see that MW3 is first. So many dumb gamers. When will people see that ego shooters are stupid mindless games in where the only point is to kill each other..

CoD's single player is like any other FPS' single player, some would say it's better. It tends to be the people who haven't played it that say it's s**t.
If people like it, then so be it...who are we to say who can like what?
Lurf on 14 Jan '12 said:
I'm once again disgusted at the popularity of such a terrible game as COD. Battlefield is better in every single way. I can only hope all those people come to their senses in 2012.

i bet if you took all the mw3 purchases away that were purchased for under 16's then it may be a different story at the top
i dont agree with the top games last year and am hoping for a better showing from the developers this year with the exception of a few titles like LA Noire and zumba its all sequels
i dont play fps in general so cant comment on mw3 but was it really worth that £40 price tag ?
slick loose on 16 Jan '12 said:
I don't play them myself but I understand if you like to play online, it is most certainly worth the £40. The DLC is well over priced and the single player isn't justification for the price.
That's the impression I get anyway.

Hey EA, I thought you told me that Battlefield was going to beat COD in sales? Remember? You used to tell us twice a day for 3 months? What ever happened?
TheLastDodo on 16 Jan '12 said:
They changed their tune about five months or so ago to "take a share of the FPS market", most other sites reported it but CVG continued to trot out the "beat them in sales" line just to wind fanboys and haters up, and it worked, meanwhile EA are laughing their way to the bank as BF3 has sold 10m copies.
gmcb007 on 16 Jan '12 said:
Didn't notice to be honest. The coverage on this site put me off even looking at any other headline about the two.
