Sony's reminded PS3 owners the PlayStation Network will be offline for 'routine scheduled maintenance' today, starting from 4pm GMT this afternoon and lasting until 5am tomorrow.
The maintenance covers a number of PSN services, the platform holder says, and means you won't be able to access the PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP or Media Go, nor will you be able to access Network Account Management and Registration, PlayStation Home and Music and Video Unlimited services.
The work also prevents PS3 owners from signing in via the PlayStation.com site, but Sony have reassured users on their blog that they will still be able to collect trophies, which will update on your profile once things are back to normal.
So if you plan on an evening of Modern Warfare 3, you'd best get signed in early.

yeah i agree!! i just downloaded star hawk and was gonna play all day on it!!! not great timing BUT @ least they aint doing it on a weekend like they have done in the past!! now thats really bad timing

Every time i see one of these PSN down story's i'm always able to sign in about 6pm even though they say it needs to be before 4pm, in fact i've never once had problems signing in on these maintenance days.
I just hope thats still bloody true tonight, with the xbox still off i'd planned an evening of UC3 with some mates.

Relax people! I've never ever been unable to sign in on maintenance days, they only take the store and account settings down. Gaming side of things will be working as normal.

I've stuck my PS3 on just in case. When there's been maintenance before when I've not been able to sign in. These maintenance downtimes are quite frequent, at least compared to XBL and Steam.
Still, it'd be good to get off BF3 and get stuck into Crysis or back into Skyrim on the 360!
