Last week we listed five classic games that we'd like to see remade. This week we're flipping the tables and listing five games that shouldn't be remade. So let's cut the waffling and dive straight in to the list:
The Curse of Monkey Island

Honestly though, we don't mind. 'Curse' is absolutely brilliant in its current state. The voice-acting is top-notch and the art style is timeless - it still looks great today despite being released about 14 years ago.
Really, all a remake could offer to improve over the original is higher quality audio and slightly up-scaled artwork. While this is generally what remakes do, we don't think it's worth it for this game. The original still holds up well. We'd much rather see the efforts that would have gone towards a Monkey Island 3 remake be used to craft an entirely new Monkey Island adventure.
Besides, we're still waiting to find out what the actual secret of Monkey Island is.

I agree that the Curse of Monkey Island doesn't NEED to be remade, but I'd still love to be able to play it on the Xbox. The first 2 are out, so it would be great to be able to continue that (and earn some more achievements)! But yeah, there's not really anything much to add...does there need to be though?

Heh, heh. Have to agree with the FF choice- the devs set a standard they could never hope to even equal. And the top game? Hilarious. Which is sad, when you think about it.

Personally I don't see why Final Fantasy VII should NEVER be remade, its not like say A Link to the Past or Super Mario Kart (for example) in terms of both still play - and look - just as well today as on initial release. Final Fantasy may play the same but put up against Xenoblade Chronicles (again, for example) it looks very dated and dare I say it plays - very much - second fiddle. Games like A Link to the Past and Mario Kart even today have no equal, no adventure game (for my money) plays anything as good as A Link to the Past and no driving game handles or excites the way Super Mario Kart does, no mean feat considering both are roughly 20 years old...

Agreed, Cvg- Square should leave FF7 alone. I can't stand Cloud's Advent Children look (or anything to do with that film) and going by FF games for the past few years they'd b0llocks it up somehow anyway.

Whynot remake them as bland generic FPS? All the cool companies are doing it these days
