Creative director inspired by Plants Vs Zombies, WoW, Black Ops and Burnout

SSX creative director Todd Batty has told us that he wants the upcoming series reboot to mark the start of a new franchise.

"I really hope this is the beginning of a franchise," he said in a video interview, in which he also revealed that his team was inspired by games including Plants Vs Zombies, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Burnout.

"The goal is to have the player have to make a decision every three seconds or faster," he said, adding that the upcoming title is "probably bigger than all of the previous SSX games combined".

Needing more time for polish, EA recently pushed back the game's February 14 release date to February 28 in the US and March 2 everywhere else.

Sorry how can it be the start of a franchise when the franchise already exists? SSX, SSX:TRICKY, SSX3 and SSX:Wii.Abortion game are already here, this new game just adds to the existing franchise, it doesn't just go off willy nilly and start a new one.

Sorry but if it has SSX in the title its part of an existing franchise. End of! Unless its SSX:Snowmobile, then they can start a new franchise.

I used to think exactly the same... Until I booted it up recently. It doesn't hold up well at all. Amped 2 is still top of the pile for me as far as snowboarding games go. I love the more realistic ones.

Surely it can either be the start of another chapter or the end of the franchise?
