SNK creating a new Neo-Geo Portable

Will have 20 pre-installed classics

SNK Playmore is creating a new handheld console called the 'Neo-Geo Keitai'.

The new Neo-Geo portable will have a 4.3 inch LCD screen, 2GB of onboard memory, an SD card slot, an AV Out port and a slick black design.

The device will play 20 pre-installed titles cherry picked from the original Neo-Geo library including World Heroes, Ultimate 11, Top Player's Golf, Sengoku, Nam-1975, Mutation Nation, Last Resort, King of Monsters, Frenzy, Cyber-Lip.

Fighting game fans can look forward to playing Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown, The King of Fighters '94, and Fatal Fury and The Art of Fighting on the go, along with other classics such as Super Sidekicks, League Bowling, Metal Slug, Magical Lord and Baseball Stars Professional. Not a bad selection at all.

SNK hasn't officially announced the device itself yet, so it isn't clear how much this little bundle of classic gaming goodness will cost.

    Want!

I just hope it's not like those crappy Megadrive handhelds that don't work properly with many games and have terrible sound.

Looks really good to me. Well thought out simple design. There seems to be a run on retro style gaming handhelds for 2012, which is all good stuff.

    Long live Neo-Geo Portable!!

I'm a bit suspicious of this. I think SNK may not have announced it because I have doubts about how real it is.
What are the 4 shoulder buttons for? All Neo-Geo games just used the four A,B,C & D buttons. And why are they labelled in such an odd way? They are labelled L1, L2, R1 & R2 from left to right. Surely the outer buttons would be L1 & R1 and the inner ones L2 & R2?
What will the card slot and internal memory be used for? I'm pretty sure SNK wouldn't make it capable of playing illegally downloaded Neo-Geo ROMs.
If it is real then I at least doubt its an official SNK product.
