Hitman Sniper Challenge trademarked

Square Enix Montreal's first game?

Square Enix has trademarked Hitman: Sniper Challenge, leading to fresh speculation about the name of the new Hitman instalment alluded to by the publisher in November.

While IO Interactive is working on Hitman: Absolution, Square recently announced plans to open a new Montreal studio this year. Its first project will be "a new premium quality game" in the Hitman franchise.

Could it be named Hitman Sniper Challenge, or even Hitman: Profession, another Square Enix trademark spotted by Siliconera earlier this month. Sniper Challenge sounds more like some kind of tie-in project or downloadable game than a full fat title to us.

IO Interactive studio head, Niels Sorensen, has said the part of the studio will be moving on to a new IP after it has wrapped up work on Hitman: Absolution.
