Resident Evil: Revelations review round-up

All the scores here...

Like a horde of deceptively sneaky zombies Resident Evil titles are coming at us from all angles.

Last week saw the announcement of Resident Evil 6 and SOCOM developer, Slant Six Games, is likely putting the finishing touches on its third-person shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

But the first to take a bite is Resident Evil: Revelations, a Nintendo 3DS title that looks like it could push the handheld's hardware further than any game so far and - with any luck - restore the waning survival horror franchise to its former glory.

Resident Evil: Revelations reviews have started to pop up online ahead of tomorrow's release and to make sure you're fully informed before you cough up your hard-earned queen sheets, we've rounded up all the reviews and stuck them in a list for your consideration.

In our own Resident Evil: Revelations review we say the game is "a tasty blend of traditional Resi spooks and modern action pacing that, despite a few action hiccups, remains one of the most satisfying uses of 3DS hardware to date," and award it an impressive 9/10.

Here's what everyone else thinks...

Games Master Magazine: 91% - One of the scariest games ever committed to handheld, and a spectacular return to form.

Nintendo Life: 9/10 - Resident Evil Revelations is a truly impressive achievement, and the definitive 'mature' title on the 3DS. With production values worthy of a home console release, a significant volume of content, a blend of the series' different game styles and a subtly evolved control system, this title feels like a tribute to and progression of the franchise.

Official Nintendo Magazine: 90% - Dark, terrifying and brilliantly exciting, Revelations is a triumph on 3DS.

Nintendo Gamer Magazine: 90 - A tasty blend of traditional Resi spooks and modern action pacing that, despite a few action hiccups, remains one of the most satisfying uses of 3DS to date. The third-party game to beat.

IGN: 8.5/10 - Resident Evil Revelations is a great handheld game, one that not only pushes the boundaries and standards of the Nintendo 3DS but one that recaptures a long-forgotten spirit of a classic franchise.

Wired: 8/10 - Resident Evil Revelations is just the sort of thing Nintendo 3DS needs right now, a high-quality original production.

Eurogamer: 8/10 - Resident Evil: Revelations is gorgeous, huge, and offers the most fully-featured online co-op experience on 3DS. The single-player isn't quite the survival horror comeback Capcom promised but, with its brilliant take on score attack, Raid mode ensures Revelations delivers at least once on its title.

Edge: 6/10 - It takes the best and worst of Resident Evils past and present, and spot welds them together unevenly. If the designers had committed wholeheartedly to either polarity of action or horror, Revelations may have been a headshot, but what we're left with is more like a glancing blow.

Metro: 8/10 - The best Resident Evil since number 4 and that's despite a number of compromises in the story mode, but very much helped by the superb graphics and online mode.

VideoGamer: 6/10 - Resident Evil: Revelations hooked long-time fans with the promise it would return to the series' survival horror roots, but couldn't resist an attempt at reaching a wider audience. Instead of producing a splintered and botched attempt at blending action and horror, Capcom should have stuck to its guns.

Nintendo is releasing also a new peripheral tomorrow that is compatible with Resi. Have a read of our Circle Pad Pro review for the lowdown.

Take a look at the footer of this website. CVG are part of Future Publishing, who own a million different gaming magazines. Future Publishing practically are THE gaming media. True story.

Got the game yesterday. It's very good! Really gone back to its survival horror roots.
Went into thinking it won't be so bad, HAHA, its freaking horrible. I've jumped more times in the first 3 hours than 4 + 5 combined. Burgh

I'm hoping my pre-order (zavvi, £29.95 with a CPP) turns up tomorrow. I really enjoyed the demo, and I'm looking forward to eight or so hours of staring at Jills ar... I mean... shooting ooze-y things.
