Crytek's Warface gets new screens

Free-to-play FPS is alive, looks pretty

After an age of silence, Crytek's released new screenshots of its free-to-play FPS, Warface, which is due to release this year.

The PC military shooter, which is powered by CryEngine 3, was previously only confirmed for release in Asian markets.

Crytek says the shooter will sport a near future setting and an extensive, constantly updating player versus environment universe "full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions" and "a full set of class-based PVP".

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said of the game: "With Warface we aim to become the next-gen of free-to-play shooters that are en par with traditional AAA games in terms of quality.

"We have the team and technology to make it happen and are starting with a strong partner in Asia to ensure we gain experience with the free to play business model. It's the next logical step for us to bring this new IP to a global audience and thus to our worldwide community."

Have a look at the only Warface video we've had so far, which was released way back in December 2010.

Unfortunately, these are old screens. Crytek released these screens 6 ~ 15 months before. After an age of silence...? It's a nice joke. Crytek already released other screens, Crytek already showed demo many times, and Warface is phase 4 of beta test in China now. Phase 4! They already did beta test 4 times. And Crytek decided to release this game for Europe, Russian & CIS countries. There are many many infos. Detail of game modes, many weapons, many attachments... just you didn't notice them. You can see many gameplay videos on Chinese video websites, and youtube.

From what I've seen, this is what Crysis 2's multiplayer should have been.
