Crystal Dynamics community manager Meagan Marie has ruled out the possibility of the Tomb Raider reboot appearing on Nintendo's Wii U.

"If we started building a game for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality."
However, since the re-imagined Tomb Raider started production prior to Nintendo's announcement of the Wii U and is designed around the current generation platforms, the studio has no plans to release the game on Nintendo's upcoming console.
"When we started developing the game we made a conscious decision that it was all about building the game for a platform and making sure the game was specific to that platform. Given that we've been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across."
The FAQ also confirmed the developer is "in the middle of discussions with a company" about a Mac version of Tomb Raider, but it is unlikely to be released at the same time as its Xbox 360, PS3 and PC counterparts.
Earlier this month, Marie also said to expect a new Crystal Dynamics IP reveal later this year.

How does the 360 version of Tomb Raider benefit from the PS3/Mac or vice versa?
If anything I would of thought the WiiU would of been easy to port over and also would of had the added feature's of the WiiU controller. Also it's funny that MAC is more important than adding Tomb Raider to WiiU

Usually easier to port from Xbox to others, though may be switching to Ps3 > others I'm not sure.
Also, they would want to use Wii u additional functionality not available on other platforms, a shoddy port isn't worth it. But say it was like Resi 4 for the Wii, then that would be worth it

After learning that Darksiders II Wii U is merely a port of current gen code i'm glad to hear this.
This game looks great, don't get me wrong but i really don't wanna see half arsed current gen ports on the format when it can do much more.

Just sounds like they're keen to get cashing in on the next in the series, or this one hasn't sold well enough to warrant the man hours to port across.
But, PPPHHHWWWOOOAAARRRRRRRRR

Pretty sad about this. I don't get why most of these western developers ignore Nintendo. Oh well. Maybe next time

Don't intend to buy a Wii U but this is admitably a pathetic excuse, especially when they announce at the same time a Mac version. A BLOODY MAC VERSION! They would have to re-code most of the game from scratch for the Mac and as far as I'm aware most people don't buy a Mac to play games and even if they do its normally used to dual boot windows. Its not April fools yet, I don't get the joke?

I will give you an idea why, because for the last 10 years, Nintendo has done a very good job of ignoring them, and the developers are right, they wont bother porting something to a mchine that like the Wii was totally underpowered and couldnt cope with a half descent port of current gen games, or believe me they would have ported, given that the Wii sold close to 90 million so far, and also that the developers have yet to be completely convinced that Nintendo have ditched this gimmicky attitude they had with the Wii and are now concentrating on not just the casual market (which is understandable given the size of it) but also the core gamer market, that keeps a machine ticking along nicely after the fickle casual market has dried up till the release of the next gimmick
If Nintendo prove they have changed this attitude and are serious that they want to play host to the whole market, then as long as the machine moves off shelves, they will develop for it, and not just ports, but original titles.

It's refreshing to see a developer not milking its franchise and releasing it only on platforms that make sense. While it's a shame for Wii U users, I'm pretty sure anyone desiring the console didn't do so solely in the hopes of a new Tomb Raider title being ported for it.
I also dreamt last night that the Tomb Raider reboot was released.... why oh why did I have to wake up!
