Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC hitting Japan next week

Original hero Lightning joining Coliseum mode

Square Enix has confirmed Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC for release in Japan next week.

The add-on content, which is planned for Japanese PSN and Xbox Live on February 7, adds original heroes Lightning and Lt. Amoda to the game's Coliseum mode.

Andriasang reports pricing is 300 on PS3 and 240 MSP on Xbox 360. There's no word on a Western release as yet.

In our Final Fantasy XIII-2 review we say "Square Enix has succeeded in crafting a significantly better title than Final Fantasy XIII " by "listening to the fans' complaints and addressing the grave mistakes".

However, the "design-by committee process has still fallen well short of recapturing the highs of the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games." We awarded the latest entry in the storied franchise 7.7.

I don't understand the necessity of under-minded louts who compare EVERY Final Fantasy game to Seven. There was nothing unique or revolutionary about 7 that stood out from the rest. In fact, every Final Fantasy game is basically 7, just different layouts, characters, and themes. Yet the ignorant and selfish want to compare everything to Seven. "Uh, Final Fantasy *INSERT NUMBER* is the worst Final Fantasy game because it isn't Seven, a hur de dur de dur de dur."

Seriously guys. If the Japanese love the new Final Fantasy games, then perhaps everyone should love the new games that Square are ACTUALLY trying to publish out to their fanbase.
