NetherRealm, developer of Mortal Kombat, has said it's looking at making 'different types of games' beyond the long running fighting series.

He added: "But at the same time, we want our studio to do more than just make Mortal Kombat games. We love making them but we also want to do different types of games. Different genres, different IPs."
For Boon, NetherRealm's Batman: Arkham City Lockdown for the iOS was the studio 'dipping their foot' into different genres.
"We're going to continue in that direction, but I would be surprised if we never did another Mortal Kombat game again," said Boon.
The PS Vita iteration of Mortal Kombat is still expected in early Spring, but after that it's anyone's guess where this new direction will take NetherRealm.

Perhaps they should start with some smaller downloadable titles first. As long as we dont get any FPS's.
Something along the lines of Shaolin Monks but without the MK influence would be good.

is B:ACL ever coming to Android?
anyway, for different IP's i'd love to see them make a DC fighter with a similar size roster to MK2011, i loved playing as the DC characters in MK vs DC.
As for different genres another Shaolin Monks type game would be great, or a(n) RPG, remember Konquest mode from MK D? I loved that! Use that as a basis of a game, and flesh it out a lot more.
Maybe even an uncharted style Action adventure would be a good genre to try.
