XCOM: Enemy Unknown looks to be shaping up nicely, if this set of new screens is anything to go by.
The rebooted RTS being developed by Civilization masters, Firaxis, which is looking to maintain the spirit and feel of the original PC classic, while adding some slick graphics and destructible environments to the mix.
The studio has described the title as a "full-on strategy game that puts players in command of a global anti-alien defense force."
The new screens show a typical encounter and show off flanking, suppressing fire and vantage points, all key parts of securing victory in XCOM. Also pictured is the game's a tactical third-person viewpoint, which gives the player a different perspective to tackle the turn-based turmoil and get a better view of all the environment destruction.
Firaxis president Steve Martin recently said: "It's been a dream of ours to recreate X-COM with our unique creative vision. We're huge fans of the original game and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to re-envision a game that is as beloved as X-COM."
