ESRB rates Game Gear games for 3DS

Sega's promised classics finally ready for 3DS deployment

Game Gear games will finally begin arriving on the 3DS eShop soon, if recent ESRB rating are any indication.

Nintendo originally promised Game Gear Virtual Console titles to arrive on the launch of the 3DS eShop, but they never showed up.

Now Game Gear classics Shinobi and Sonic Triple Trouble have turned up on the ESRB site for 3DS, suggesting their release any moment now and revealing the first of Sega's offerings.

These will be the first non-Nintendo titles to appear on the 3DS, with only classic NES, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles having appeared so far.

Nintendo has also confirmed Turbografx-16 games (which already appear on the Wii VC) for 3DS, but those have also yet to materialise.

I played Lemmings loads on my Game Gear, can remember a Sega bonus level where you'd have to lead them across the sega logo. Would be good if that surfaced.

I'm still waiting for them to emulate the Virtual Boy on 3DS. I'm pretty sure they would be able to accurately emulate the 3D effect that it used with the 3DS screen. It would probably be even better as it wouldn't cause quite as much migraine inducing eye strain. Although I think Nintendo are keen to keep their biggest flop ever hidden away, so it'll probably never happen :-(
