Capcom has labelled the move to offer the upcoming Resident Evil 6 demo exclusively on Xbox 360 for a two month period as "a strategic business decision".

Capcom announced earlier this week that action game Dragon's Dogma will offer access to a playable demo of Resident Evil 6, with all retail versions of the May release set to include a code to download the taster at a later date.
"Purchasers of the Xbox 360 version of Dragon's Dogma will be able to redeem this token and download the Resident Evil 6 demo globally on the Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360 60 days earlier than any other platform starting on July 3," the publisher said.
Those with the PS3 version of Dragon's Dogma will be able to play the demo from September 4 in North America and Japan and September 5 in Europe.

"a strategic business decision" = Microsoft are paying us more money. f**k the fans, we are in it for the ca$h!

Is the PS3 version a bit crap then?

Makes sense more money and you get your game on the bigger selling system, win win for Capcom.

To be fair, Capcom f*cked the fans of Resident Evil several years back by turning it into an action game.

M$ sure does have a lot of companies sucking it's corporate c**k

8 week timed exclusive demo really makes me want to buy it for the 360......
looks like they're worried about not making enough sales to cover their development costs.

This is becoming more and more common with regards to demos and betas, across both platforms.
Don't really understand why everyone is getting in such a tizz over it?
TheLastDodo on 2 Feb '12 said:
Really? It's 2012, not 2008.
While you are technically correct, the difference in sales between the two consoles is minimal at this point in time, this wouldn't matter in 2008 but in 2012 with over 50m PS3 owners to p**s off, it's not a wise business move at all.
I'm sure the $m MS gave Capcom will sooth the blow when the PS3 version underperforms at retail, like Mass Effect 2 did last year and the GTA IV DLC and the former XBLA "exclusive" titles that eventually find their way onto PSN. There are so many new games released these days that people aren't gonna hang around anymore, they'll simply move onto something else.
They've already alienated a lot of people with the "chasing the CoD dream" comment and the direction they've gone with RE6, why make it worse?
Bad move Capcom
And yes I would be saying the same if the shoe was on the other foot.

No wise guy.....it's all down to the money, and the fact that exclusively all Xbox owners have to look forward to is Halo 100, and stars wars kinect, and off course the resi 6 demo, other than that on the run up to crimbo.....more kinect titles that have you stroking cute animals. Exciting 2012 eh.
ensabahnur on 2 Feb '12 said:
If i remember correctly wasn't the Resi 5 demo released on 360 first, in Japan no less, as well?

Capcom are you really that better with microsoft?
Don't think so.

"stars wars" is my favourite thing I've seen in the comments section all week.

You're probably not missing much.
On a side note, Sony are just as bad for splashing cash on exclusivities in multiplat games. Both companies are as bad as the other and the publishers are milking them for these tedious deals. Swings and roundabouts.

It almost sounds like the next version of Stars in their Eyes.

Won't be buying Dragons Dogma anyway so the two months doesn't make a difference to me.... the launch date looks like it'll be the same for both consoles so people need to chill.
FixBeatGames on 2 Feb '12 said:
is this why the xbox has practically no exclusive games this year? cuz they're spending all their money securing demos and cod maps appearing on live a month early? lmao.

I'll stick with being technically correct thank you.

Yes you will and Capcom will have to make do with losing my sale, not because of this demo announcement, but because of what they're doing with RE6.
If CoD players want CoD action they'll play CoD not RE6, simple.

Are people really crying over an exclusive demo?
Not fussed either way personally as this will be a bargain bin purchase for me next January when it's inevitably reduced after CoD slaughters it like everything else at that time of year.
The Bossman on 2 Feb '12 said:
Resi 5 bored the crap out of me, Resi 4 was the best in the series for action. I won't buy this or DL the PS3 demo, if you're aiming for the COD fanbase, guess what, we'll just play COD instead. You can't take on COD as a 3rd person game anyway.
dwhlufc on 2 Feb '12 said:
You can't take on CoD full stop,it's way to popular for anything to ever get close to it in worldwide sales.
KK-Headcharge78 on 2 Feb '12 said:
I'm puzzled as to what COD has to do with this anyway, sure it's a shooter in the broad sense it's not the only game that has timed exclusive terms. If Capcom feel supporting one system over another is more commercially viable for them then I doubt the prior deal of a military FPS ranks amongst their top considerations (most likely money, unique online users, largest online player base, DLC promotion and arguably strongest online provider)
dwhlufc on 2 Feb '12 said:
Think it's been brought up as Capcom have said they want attract the CoD audience with Resi 6.
TheLastDodo on 2 Feb '12 said:
@KK
Capcom stated they've made RE6 more action packed because they want to attract CoD players.
If Capcom want to do a deal like this, and then potentially one for DLC then fine, I'm just saying they'd better be sure it's worth it as it's going to upset 50 odd million PS3 owners, timed exclusive deals can bite you on the ass, again see Mass Effect 2, GTA IV DLC, XBLA exclusives on PS3/PSN.
You make people wait and they'll eventually lose interest.
Very_Silver_Ownz on 2 Feb '12 said:
Whats the point in a exclusive demo ? If they had made Resi 6 exclusive to Xbox 360 like Resi 4 was to the gamecube when it released it would make sense but not a demo.
JBoo on 2 Feb '12 said:
And from me its -
I will be buying 'Resident Evil 6' next year 2nd hand off eBay because 'its a F**K-YOU decision Capcom for making me wait to play the demo' :-/ (i am not that bothered really because RE5 wasn't anything brilliant)
dwhlufc on 2 Feb '12 said:
You'd be revelling in this news if sony had the exclusivity.
