Lollipop Chainsaw: Buffy has new competition

We check out Grasshopper's No-More-Heroes-alike...

Juliet Starling isn't your typical high school sweetheart.

Superficially she's a typical cheerleader who loves pink, adores ponies and worships Legally Blonde (along with Evil Dead II apparently - we'll give her props for that).

But there's also the small matter of her carrying a chainsaw everywhere she goes, to mow down the hordes of zombies desperate to eat her brains. Tell us the last time you saw a girl do that in Sweet Valley High.

The cause of the attack forms part of the game's mystery, but we do know that behind the mass Z-outbreak are a band of 'zombie rock lords' determined to slay Juliet for reasons unknown. Call us crazy, but going by Suda51 and Grasshopper's previous videogames we fully expect these rock lords to each have wildly different personalities and form the game's main boss characters.

Juliet's a bag of acrobatics and viciousness wrapped up in a revealing costume. She's also dab hand with her chainsaw and can de-head the San Romero High undead with just a flick of her wrist and a lift of her skirt (it's exploitative like that, you see).

An interesting titbit of info is that James Gunn - director of gross-out horror/comedy Slither - has been involved from the get-go. The Hollywood director had a hand in the game's concept and has teased that actors from his movies will play parts in the finished game.

Needless to say, we're dead excited about 'Pop's chances.
