Take-Two assured investors in a financials call today that development of Grand Theft Auto V is "making great progress", despite staying well away from determining a window of release.

"Grand Theft Auto V is making great process," said T2 boss Strauss Zelnick.
Without going into specifics, Zelnick offered assurance the the game "promises to continue Rockstar's incredible track record of delighting fans by raising the bar in interactive entertainment".

Simultaneous release on PC please, 40-50+ player online and as much customizability as SA-MP.
Valve anti cheat etc.. all set, awesome online game.. not like those boring console shooters
GTA IV was not as fun as SA. so the multiplayer in IV is actually half baked, the modders did a much better job on SA-MP so come on R* make a decent multiplayer for once!
you know they are in dire need of a good mp when modders do a better job than the official devs. The mod alone is pulling in 8000+ players even today, get it together R*!

it's obviously going to be released for PS3, it's just the xbox360 users that needs to worry since there are three options
1) it will be released on 360
2) it will be released on 360 but with more than 3 discs
3) it won't be released on 360 due to the fact multiple discs doesn't work well with GTA. (possibly for digital release)

What a fanboy no it won't be released on 360 cos of the amount of discs it uses
This game will be released on 360 & PS3, hopefully on PC at the same time as well and it will be much better on there i hope R* pull their finger out on the MP this time.

The Wii U exclusive rumour still hasn't been put to bed and it really should've been by now if it wasn't a possibility. The fact that there's no format logo on the trailer makes me lean in the direction of it being true, we'll see in the end.
That'd be a funny board round here, I'd put the kettle on for that one.
Also, i still say that's not 360 code in the trailer but i could be being mischievous there, who knows?
ricflair on 3 Feb '12 said:
Unless MS, Sony or Nintendo stump up a s**t load of cash, it's blatantly going to be released at least on the 360/PS3 and I expect a Wii U version too.
Paying such huge amounts of money for an exclusive would probably be pointless at this stage in the PS3 and 360's cycle, although it'd make sense for Nintendo and they've got enough spare change to buy exclusivity about 20 times over.
Sentinator on 3 Feb '12 said:
Don't get your hopes up there hicky. The rumour came from some random blogger. But it would be pretty damn hilarious to see the massive amount of salt that would come from this. My brother saw HMV taking deposits for preorder on the 360 version. I like the way they assume its on 360. But seriously there is an indication its on Wii U. I just doubt its exclusive. It would be even funnier to see if Wii U added Agent as well. PS3 fanboys can't use the excuse of Wii U dumbing it down because it has the same disc space
ricflair on 3 Feb '12 said:
What was the last third party western game that didn't get a 360 release?
Unless huge amounts of cash are involved there is absolutely no way that R* will miss out on the 360. Or their PS3 for that matter. They have shareholders to answer to, they're not going to skip the biggest selling platform (out of PS3, 360 and Wii U, in the west at least), if they do I'll eat my hat.
svd_grasshopper on 3 Feb '12 said:
currently replaying GTA4, still awesome. the car handling takes a bit of getting used to again, but at least it's involved. they better get rid of that gear mechanism where you need to dip the revs in order not to over-rev. that is balls.
would be perfect if they increased grip by 12% and gravity by 17%. also the bikes handling are just plain s**t. they were a joy in san andreas, the sanchez in particular. bikes are a straight annoyance in IV.

Ric and sentinator: I'll say this people, and sure there's some wishful thinking on my part no doubt, the rumour hasn't been killed by R*, Nintendo, MS, Sony or anyone else and every article that goes by without a hint of a multiplat release just adds fire to it.
so until it's killed officially, that one stays on the table for me. Though it stings SVD by the looks of it.
If anyone can disprove it I'll take note, no prob but i've looked all over the shop and there's f**k all to knock it on the head. I want it either confirmed or killed by E3.
Sentinator: Blogger's are quicker than the mainstream and closer to the ground half the time. I wouldn't write any info off cos there's no corporate source. Hang around GAF for half an hour and you'll be watching Frank O connor and 343i staff turn up for a chat on the boards.
I myself was on the boards with Headstrong and Rebellion staff the other night on GI.Biz. while talking to Retro staff last night on twitter and that's not even half of it.
My site is fully accepted on the EA extranet with full access to assets, same for Bethesda's press vaults and their PR firm Lunch.PR. I'm waiting on MGS HD from Konami as i type - Sure my posties robbed it, had work endorsed by Mistwalker, registered with Square Enix and recieved review copies of BF3 and MW3 at launch from both EA and Acti.
Not bad huh?
you'd be surprised what you can dig up/who you can deal with if you just look/try.
Sentinator on 3 Feb '12 said:
Wii U mad about that possibly happening? There is actually a lot for Nintendo to gain by doing that move. Its pretty much "Oh you want to play GTA V first? Well buy our system or your waiting a year!" I suspect they may have taken a similar approach to Microsoft and perhaps secured exclusive DLC or something. That is if it is on Wii U in the first place. But they don't often keep platforms secret unless there is something they are not allowed to talk about. I actually had a bet on with my brother about Ninja Gaiden 3 being on there and I was half right. Of course I didn't expect it to have extra content. There are cases where its done for publicity though.
dwhlufc on 3 Feb '12 said:
Theress absolutely 0% chance this won't be multiplatform, just look at R* history plus they'd be losing millions of sales if it went exclusive to any of the three consoles and I doubt shareholders would be happy with that do you?

ste hicky on 3 Feb '12 said:
That's pure conjecture.
This first part isn't : Nintendo have 18 billion dollars to throw at 3rd parties right now. They ain't in the debt that SCE are in as they have 0 and aren't as ill focussed as MS with Kinect. right now.
While a full exclusive may be a little too far do not be surprised to see a timed exclusive for the rest of this gen with PS4 and 720 getting enhanced ports down the line.
R* could kill this easily, they haven't and it's gone on since before E3 last year.
where's the multiplat trailer?
ricflair on 3 Feb '12 said:
That's why it won't happen unless R* get a massive amount of money from someone, and with about 20m sales, that'd probably have to be something like a couple of hundred million dollars or more!
I guess a period of exclusivity could happen and I could see Nintendo doing that if out of all three, if tied in with the Wii U launch, but I just can't see it. R* generally keep quite schtum until you get pretty close to release, so no denials or confirmation of platforms means pretty much nothing to me and there is just no way in the world they're going to come out maybe six to twelves months before release and say what platforms it's coming out on.
Nintendo could be on to a winner if they even just put some money R*'s way to give additional features and really put some effort into the Wii U version. And I'm not sure if it'll come to PC straight away anyway. The other games haven't, RDR hasn't come to PC at all, LA Noire took six months etc.
Nobody has gone after other large selling series by massive publishers and tried to buy exclusivity, so I'm not really sure why it's being touted here.
ste hicky on 3 Feb '12 said:
50 million got MS about ten minutes with GTA IV's DLC Ric, You're spot on man.
It'd have to be around 300 mill (at least) for a timed deal, say 18-24 months.
Nintendo could do that without blinking though.
The Bossman on 3 Feb '12 said:

What's so lol about Halo 4? You've put AC in there which will be the 4th AC game in four years!
Sentinator on 3 Feb '12 said:
@ hicky your comment didn't seem arrogant to me in the slightest. Your just sceptical about GTA V being multiplatform until proven otherwise. You have a right to be. But I still don't think it will happen. Don't forget though, releasing Wii U as it is now they are hitting the reset button. People are assuming its casual because of Wii. Just having GTA V is a good position in itself. Even if multiplatform, people will see benefits in buying the game on Wii U out of preference.
I can tell you this just by looking at the lineup, Nintendo are not going to make the same mistake again. They are going to fight for the core gamers or die trying.

Here's the killer: I am not saying for a second that it is exclusive

My OCD will not let the fact that it hasnt been smoked out rest. It'll be fine when it all pans out but I hate loose ends because by their very nature they are open to speculation and that particular rumour got time on everywhere from GAF to CVG and has never gone away
It'll be at E3 no doubt, we'll know then.

Where's the exclusive trailer?
Francisnf on 3 Feb '12 said:
i've just watched the video again, high quality, standard sized screen on youtube, its pretty good looking, could an 360 or ps3 do that? it seems much nicer than gta4.
ste hicky on 3 Feb '12 said:
I'm more than willing to acknowledge such but the fact remains that the rumour still isn't dead. So while there's no exclusive trailer, there is a no format one doing the rounds that reeks of NDA's.
It's as viable as not right now and Nintendo could afford it easily.
Also, I have my reasons on this but i'm worn out after passing the 40 hour awake mark and ain't got much in the tank but I still suspect that the trailer isn't 360 code either, While Rockstar wouldn't lead on PS3 and they sort the PC further down the line when we've all been looked after on consoles. (Red Dead? Oh Yeah, Sorry. They hate PC gamers, Give them LA Noire and not Red Dead? That's a sin)
dwhlufc on 3 Feb '12 said:
I don't for a minute doubt that Nintendo couldn't afford the exclusivity outright nevermind timed but it would be commercial suicide on R*/Take Twos behalf by releasing it on one format.
Reegeee on 3 Feb '12 said:
Totally, it would make no business sense whatsoever to release it on a brand new console with no install base. Add to that the fact that it must have been in development for years already (Before WiiU dev kits had been sent out almost definitely) and it's one of the most ridiculous rumours I've ever heard.
dwhlufc on 3 Feb '12 said:
Exactly,I'm also finding it very funny that people are actually questioning whether 360/PS3 could run it from watching the trailer!
ricflair on 4 Feb '12 said:
Well the whole idea is that Nintendo pay them in lieu of lost sales on other formats, hence it costing hundreds of millions of dollars, but I can't see it happening. Nintendo don't usually throw money around to that degree!
A small exclusivity period? Maybe. Doubt it though. I don't think the supposed $50m MS paid R* made much difference to sales at all. There's only about a million difference or summat, so doubt anyone would throw that kind of money at it for DLC.
There's a reason there are hardly any third party exclusives on the 360/PS3!
Izo on 4 Feb '12 said:
Err not saying that it will be exclusive but GTA sells platforms not the other way round, PS2 after all was only out for just under a year when GTA3 landed.
Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
Exactly, not zero time.
As you said it had been out for a year and had sold about 20 million units. GTA 5 is most probably going to come out around the same time as the wiiu launch.
And the main thing is that it has been in production for years, well before any dev kits for the wiiu would even become available. It would be my guess that, if anything, it would come out on the wiiu last.
It's irrelevant because there is no way they would be so far on such a massive project with the limited time they would've had wiiu kits. It's even less likely considering it's a brand new machine.
The Bossman on 4 Feb '12 said:
Which happen to have superb atmospheres for each new release, and are much more fun to play than Halo.
Izo on 4 Feb '12 said:
You obviously don't follow development do you, for one it only takes a week to transfer PS3/360 assets over to Wii U dev kits how much time they've had with the U in this case is irrelevant. Not to mention development is not just assets but planning and design the actual modelling and assets could of started when they already had kits. PS2 didn't have high sales until GTA3 arrived in fact at that point the PS2 userbase was lower then what the PS3 had in it's disastrous launch year, the game sold the platform.
Your logic is also flawed as being a launch title is one of the better moves in an industry it has been for years, early adopters buy your game and it becomes one of the flagship titles much like how 3DS started selling heavily in Japan when Monster Hunter was headed to the platform. GTA is also one of those games that sells regardless of where it is.
Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
So what you are saying here then, is in order for it to be a WiiU exclusive, they would have coded the 360 or PS3 version, ported it to the WiiU in a week, and then thrown the other versions away. Really?
I highly doubt they would code a GTA game in less then 2 years.
The difference is that the only real rival to the PS2 at the time was the PS1, so they where on a pretty safe bet. They also, despite it not being huge, had a userbase bigger than ZERO.
Rockstar don't give two s**ts about selling WiiU units. You are describing here how it would benefit Nintendo, not Rockstar. They want to set sales records. The amount of money Nintendo will have to put up for this would dwarf the $50m MS paid for the DLC. MW3 made $700m in a week! GTA will be looking at those kind of figures and so to secure exclusivity and make Rockstar miss out on those sales Nintendo would have to pay into the multiple BILLIONS to secure exclusivity.
It will simply never happen. We will be back here in a couple of months with a new thread where Xbox and PS3 versions will have been announced and PC and WiiU people (Even though no one owns one yet
) will be complaining as their versions haven't been announced. Trust me.
Izo on 4 Feb '12 said:
Point out where I said it's going to be exclusive and secondly being in development for a few years doesn't tell us what stage development was at, Duke Nukem forever after all was never meant to be a 360/PS3 game, GTAV also hasn't even got a release date GTAIV came out in 2008 two years after it was first teased. No I'm not describing the benefits for Nintendo I'm pointing out to you that being a new userbase is irrelevant as if it sells platforms it's a non issue, PS2 is proof of this the should be DC version released as well going by your logic.
ricflair on 4 Feb '12 said:
Well in you're opinion of course! I'm don't love or hate either, but it just seemed arrogant and dismissive.
Reeg, I expect Take Two ultimately care about making as much money as possible, their shareholders do anyway! If anyone came around with enough money to make them as much money as possible, then I doubt they'd care. If any of the three said "here's half a billion dollars (or whatever), throw the the PS3/360/Wii U code away" then I'm sure they would!
But it'd take a s**t load, as you're right, R* don't care about Nintendo, so Nintendo would have to make it worth their while! f**k knows what that figure would be, but the money from Nintendo would be net, not gross. EG reckoned the publisher takes 30% of the £40 or so, and then they have to take their costs out of that, so you wouldn't have to stump up that kind of money, but it'd still be a small fortune.
Anyway it's fanciful and fun to speculate, but I can't see it being worth it. It's why I have my doubts about Agent ever appearing as a PS3 exclusive - R* aren't just going to make it for the sake of it, they'll go where the money is. A period of exclusivity is the most drastic thing I can see happening.
dwhlufc on 4 Feb '12 said:
I think Agent has gone incognito and never to be seen again.
Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
@ Izo - I thought that was the whole point of what you where saying, but if not, fair enough.
@Flair - I just can't see anyone offering them over the amount of the possible profits they could make having it multiplat. If we were looking at it being released at the start of the next gen, then yeh, maybe. Right at the end of this gen when the userbase for each machine is at it's absolute active maximum? Just no way, no way.
ricflair on 4 Feb '12 said:
I completely understand what you're saying, but depending on the power of the wii U it could be the the start of the next gen!

Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
@Flair-Well we'll see I guess, but I honestly think it's more likely that it will probably come to the Xbox and PS3 first and the WiiU version will end up quite a few months later as like a special edition with the DLC already included. I just have that feeling from it.
Either way I'm just looking forward to seeing more from it. I know they don't really do much at E3, but it would be good to see it in detail there.
@Rbt - You should play Saints Row mate. I think you may actually like that.
ricflair on 4 Feb '12 said:
I hope it's not shinier! Games need to get the reflections off matte surfaces right, it's one of the things that made UC2 stand out when I first played it!
I guess it could depend on time scales, how pushed R* are. But I think getting it as a release game on the Wii U, not exclusive, just out on the Wii U, would make it a very big fish in a small Wii U pond, in the same way everyone I knew with a PS2 had GTA3, but I no plenty of people who passed on GTAIV - the mad bastards! Although GTA3 was arguable a much bigger deal as it was so new. It's possible there could be a six month gap between the Wii U release and GTA's.
I hope it doesn't wait for nine months or so before it comes out on Wii U though, which I think will already have it's fair share of ports of year old games.
Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
I think just having the best version on the WiiU would be enough to sway quite a lot of people. Again though, you have to look at things like online infrastructure before you can really tell. GTA 5 is supposed to be this beast of an online game and you just wouldn't trust Nintendo at the moment to pull it off if you where making the game.
Rockstar keep going on about how this game is going to be really focused on the online and so you would bet on MS having any kind of exclusivity if anyone did.
Izo on 4 Feb '12 said:
Nintendo aren't making their own online though a third party is doing it for them signs point towards either Valve or EA, no one is really buying GTA games for online it's not like COD, they're bought mainly because of their sandbox design, even RDR become silent online after a short while.
Reegeee on 4 Feb '12 said:
If they get Origin or Steam support from the get go then that would just be utterly awesome and would eliminate any fears whatsoever, but we'll have to wait and see. As long as it is something universal to the whole system rather than a separate function for each third party company then that will be perfect.
Only mention the online because it seems (From what little is known about the game) they are really focusing on it not in terms of competitive play but more along the lines of co op and basic connect-ability from the interviews I've read. There's still plenty more to be found out, but from the sounds they are making I think it will be a big focus. It could just mean stuff like Facebook and Youtube integration (Which theoretically ties in with the tablet perfectly), but we'll have to see.
